Keeping hold of Fellaini

it would be devastating, but i would be okay with selling him to madrid. but i wouldn't sell a curl of his hair for 20 mil, he's a rock for us in midfield, and will be difficult to replace as rodwell is not yet developed enough to do the same job. I'm also not to positive that he's settled here, especially with all the business about his dad wanting him to move... i don't want him to demand a move away in a couple of seasons.

if we can cash in on a player who while a brilliant player is admittedly a bit injury prone and probably wants away, i'm all for it but we better make damn sure we get our money's worth, and for me 20 mil isn't even close (20 mil has about the same buying power now as 14 mil did when we bought him, and he's definitely gone up in value a great deal).

Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini is not paying attention to reports linking him with a multi-million pound move to Real Madrid.

The Belgium international has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after sustaining an ankle injury at the beginning of March, but that has not stopped suggestions that Real are preparing a summer bid.

It has been reported by Spanish newspaper AS that Real are ready to offer €25million (£21.7m) in a bid to improve their squad and close the gap on Pep Guardiola's Barcelona.
Fellaini had been excellent for Everton since the turn of the year, providing a strong presence in midfield, and, amid the transfer rumours, he is adamant that his only priority is to return to first-team football.

The 23-year-old told skysports.com: "I am nursing my ankle injury. I want to come back stronger from this injury next season.

"I am not thinking about a transfer at the moment. I am thinking about getting fit. It has been a difficult year so far for me."

Baines and Fellaini are the two players who we simply have to hold on to. Unless there is a ridiculous offer for Fellaini which it would be illogical to turn down i hope to God that everybody at Goodison does everything they can to keep him here for another season at least.

I'd willingly sell him to Real if he legally changed his name to Marouane Makelelé, they've been missing a player like him for a while.

I would be devastated if we lost Fellaini, shoot me down but i'd rather sell Rodwell if it meant we could keep Fellaini, he's a more complete player and when the squads fully fit, Rodwell can't get a Start (unless Arteta goes to the wing, but thats another matter entirely) and we would get similar money for Rodwell.

I genuinly think that Fellaini is one of the best Defensive Midfielders in the league. There are only a few better........... look at the big teams in the league, IMO he's better than mikel, although certainly not Essien (potentially though?) he's better than anything Liverpool have, and Tottenham and i think there isn't much between Fellaini and Song of Arsenal, although Yaya at city is better, albeit playing a more advanced role.

Fellaini will become one of the best Defensive Midfielders in the world, i'm almost certain of that. I just hope we can keep him for a bit longer because for me he was improving pretty much with each game before his injury.

For me though, it comes down to this: Does either of them want to go? if either of them do then the horrible fact is that a move may be on the agenda already.

Well each to their own but i don't think he's good enough to break up Fletcher/Scholes, Fabregas/Song, Toure/De Jong, Modric/Palacios, Lampard/Essien or Lucas/Meireles.

He's a good player, capable of playing at a higher level than we can offer him, but he's not world class.

sure your names not cuckoo fletcher palacios lucas meireles your having a laugh

 Each to their own mate !

Fellaini will win World Player Of The Year in the next 5 years and is the next Zidane.

The whole team is overrated anyway, so any club coming in for them will be proper mugs.

Even Baines aint all that because Pienaar made him look good and 90% of our goals come from his wing, so he cant defend.

Ship em all out so we can comfortably bag 7th spot next season.

Make or break for Moyes too.

who said he was going to be world player of the year or is the next zidane stick to what you said about not good enough to break up certain partnerships

United, Arsenal and Liverpool fans wouldn't swap Fletcher, Song or Lucas for Fellaini, i guarentee it. Especially not at a cost of £20m+ he's not worth it, he doesn't do enough.

Barry was bought for £12m, not £18m. Alot of those figures you suggested are skewed. And he was bought at a time when England couldn't function without him, he's actually done quite well at City, he's good at what he does, but he has his limitations as a player. De Jong and Palacios are players with specific jobs, they have great engines and are ball winners and do those jobs well, but again they have their limitations.

Where as Fellaini is billed as a box-to-box, creative, goalscoring, all round midfield general and he's just not. He's solid defensively, strong on the ball and good in the air without being brilliant at it, and he uses his height and strength to good advantage going forward, a good player but he's neither one thing or the other, and a way off Madrid/Chelsea quality.

Personally i think your wrong there mate, purely because i have seen Fellaini dominating games with said players or a combination of them playing. I really dont see how anyone can call the lad a limited player - he is one of the best in Europe for me.

Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea would love him and no mistake - in fact he is prob actually what they need.

As an attacking midfeilder he scored 8 goals in his first season, in his next two he ownwed almost every game as a playmaker/turning defence in to attack/breaking up play. Stats dont always give a fair reflection, for example Osman and Coleman have better assist and goal ratios then say Pienaar, more to the point so does Baines - that doesnt make Pienaar a bad player.

I'm not saying he'd walk into every team right now. But factoring in his age, and his influence in the toughest league in the world, well... he'd walk in to many right now.

And you're mental if you think Lucas is even comparable to Fellaini. Just mental.

I am, he is by far one of the best players in the PL, and this defensive midfeilder stuff isnt accurate either he is box - box. Carsley per say had a specifc role in the team as a defensive midfeilder, Fellainis is compleatley diffeent and he is one of the main driving forces in the team going forward. Calling him a defensive midfeilder is doing him a diservice. He can break up attacks yes, but he can also dictate games, set up the foundation for attack, control the tempo and boss the midfeild defenively and offensively. Many think Arteta has been out of form this season - i dont i think he has had to play second fiddle to Fellaini who has become our main man in there.

Personaly with the exception of Fabregas i think hes the best all round midfeilder in the league - i havent seen a similar midfeilder to him, since the days of Keane and Viera - he can do everything.

he would walk into the Utd, City, Chelsea, Sh"2te, Arsenal team IMHO. Fletcher, Ramires, Lucas, Barry etc couldnt touch him to be honest . I can think of games against them were he made them all look very ordinary and has proved it as well.

Just scanning after work, and have to agree with this completely.

I think he would get into every team in the Premier League bar non, and would be a major asset to the bigest clubs in Europe. He has proved it over this season and the latter part of the last once he go to his natural position. When was the last time we have been humiliated by one of the big spending, I refuse to call them big in any other sense, clubs in the Prem? He is the reason that Chelsea struggle to beat us, Arsenal we have so much more of the play and the ball etc.

Sorry but he is going to get even better with age.

I really don't want to see him leave, but he ain't going to stay to be a mid table team so we need investment in the playing staff to convince him to stay and sign the reported new contract. If he doesn't sign he has two years left, I think, and we all know what happens once they get down to the last year. If he had to leave then I want him to advance in another league and then come back and show his class knocking the phoney monied clubs out of the CL.

I think you're pretty much spot on there. That's why I mentioned his distribution -- that puts him streets ahead of the standard DM. I.E Lucas.

Frigging Lucas. I can't believe anyone on here thinks he's even 1/10th the player Felli is. Cookacho, you should be ashamed!! :P

The only midfeilder i rate higher in the league is Fabergas to be honest, cant beleive there is a consensus here that he is purely a defensive midfeilder - honestly had to rub my eyes. Forget Lucas, Fletcher, Carrick, Song, Ramieras Diaby and Barry - are worse. Utd, Arse and Chelsea would cream themselves if they could sign him - i wouldnt be surprised if one eventually comes in for him.

He would walk into any team - with the exception of Barca.
