Keeping hold of Fellaini

£20m and Gago? Don't mind if I do. The quoted 25m euros wont be enough to secure him I shouldn't think, no point flogging the lad for a £6m profit or whatever, it has to be £25m english sterling or no dice. Real will pay that too, I should imagine. If they and Chelsea both seriously want him I wont be surprised to see him go in the slightest.

This summer is a huge one for Moyes and the club, as I fully expect us have a high player turnover and have quite a bit of cash to spend and new faces through the door. Choose carefully, Mr Moyes.

We'll never get any of their players in exchange. Lets put that to bed right now.

If one of them even did lack such ambition as to join us, it would indicate a Van Der Meyde-esque disaster was in the offing.

No player in the Madrid squad would entertain a move to Everton. It's like waving a white flag and admitting you're not arsed anymore.

I disagree - there are several players over there who have disappeared out of regular first-team contention and arent likely to get back anytime soon (Gago, Pedro Leon, Drenthe), and if they do want to have a comeback then there are few better clubs for them to go to - we have done it with high-profile players before (Pienaar, Arteta - hell we even did it with Banega and he didnt even play for us in the end).

My favourite Everton player who n-ever played for Everton ever...Ever Banega. Ever.

At the end of the day, no player with a burning ambition to play at the top level would want to come here permanently. We're not in Europe and don't look like getting back in any time soon, we've got sod all to spend and we're in the midst of selling our best players just so we've got a pot to piss in.

Well that says it all doesn't it ? Loans ! Pienaar and Arteta both joined on loan originally and thats our best chance, we might get a couple on loan in the deal, with a view to a permanent deal, but at the end of the loan spell if we're not looking like progressing into Europe, showing ambition in the transfer market, the player is going to think sod this. Its a two way street, and no player capable of playing for Real Madrid at the top end of Football is going to commit his best years to us when the best we can manage is slogging it out in mid-table.

If Fellaini is to go to Madrid, and i don't believe he is, then i'd rather we take a straight cash deal and look further down the spectrum. Buy players looking to advance their careers in the Premier League, look to the Bundesliga, Ligue 1, Eredivisie, maybe even the SPL and the Championship. Its already been proven there are several bargains to be had there. Ba, Tiote, Sessegnon etc.

Hard but fair, we're a stepping stone for up and coming players who hope to establish themselves internationally with us then secure a move to a leading light where their ego is satisfied and they can tweet to their hearts content. Before retiring in their early thirties after a failed loan move to Newcastle and a coke habit that seems to be progressively worse since they've stopped playing.

Indeed, but the key word in that first sentence of yours is permanently. Getting players in, having them play well for a couple of seasons and then selling them to richer clubs for considerably more than we originally paid for them is good business, just as much as picking up other clubs rejects and turning them into better, more valuable players is. Certainly its much better than frittering away hundreds of millions on overrated England squad players and ******** centre-forwards.

Indeed, but the flaw in that fiendish plan of yours is how do we convince players of that calibre to join us on a permanent basis ? As i pointed out, a year long loan could perhaps be achieved for someone like Canales or Pedro Leon, but there is not a chance either of those players would sign 4 year deals with us, let alone established internationals like Gago, do me a favour !. There will undoubtedly be other teams interested, better teams who are involved in continental competition and are showing ambition to challenge for silverware.
