Strike ace eyes long-term Toffees stay

Last Updated: Fri, 16 Oct 2009 13:21

Loan striker Jo insists he does not regret leaving mega-bucks Manchester City and would like to stay at Everton for 'the long run'.

The 22-year-old Brazilian ace was initially farmed out to Everton in the second half of last season after failing to live up to the £18million price-tag City paid CSKA Moscow for his services in summer 2008. And, following a successful spell at Goodison Park, Toffees chief David Moyes took Jo back to Merseyside on loan for this season.

Jo moved to Everton just as City boss Mark Hughes was splashing out vast sums of money to try and turn the Eastlands outfit into a genuine contender for at least a top-four finish. However Jo insists he made the right move joining Everton and he would like to stay put when his loan expires.

"I plan to stay here for the long run," he told The Liverpool Echo.

"Since last season I have felt very, very happy here and very welcome.

"I have a lot of respect for Manchester City but I am playing for Everton at the moment."

He added: "I feel cared for by everybody here and that makes me very happy."

So...I know its a long season and he hasnt been that great but do you think we should keep him or wait till the end of the season and then judge? Will Moyes want him?

I do like the kid (he's only 22) and can be moulded. He doesnt look like he'll get you 20 goals a season, but he does look like he could be a Berbatov-esque player or a great link up player.

When he says the long run , does he mean the Marathon ???
That's early April , isn't it ???

I'll give Jo this much.

Regardless of whether or not he's good enough to play for us, I like the fact that there's a player that WANTS to play for us.

Lescott couldn't wait to get out the door to Man City. Jo likes his teammates, his manager, and the fans and wants to try and make it permanent.

Gotta give him that.

Completely agree. Jo has a great attitude and works hard.

He was shocking last night though.....

But then again so was every one.

There is a huge diffence between heart and ability. He plays at home and like a decent wine he doesn't travel. He reminds me of Imrai Varadi...................enough said

If he wants to stay, he best improve lots...

agree. I try and stick up for him, and was excited at the prospect of having him this season after some good displays last season...

but recently he has had the co-ordination of a baby elephant and I know he can do better. He just seems a little slow and stiff.

Come on Jo!!!, do it to show City they are still sh*t!!!!
