January Transfer Window 2026

Is it? Why? What, realistically, can we achieve this season? This season seems like a perfect season to bed in new players. We're not going down, we're unlikely to challenge the upper reaches of the league, we're out of the cups. It seems a perfect, low risk opportunity to give players game time. It won't happen, like, but this season isn't important at all.

As much as i agree with that if he did try it and we lost a run of games he'd get slaughtered. With yourself probably being one of the first in the queue lol.
Nice idea though.

I'll be honest with you Gillie, Moyes is damaged goods for me. Short of winning a pot I can't see how he'd win me over. I admit it, I'm not especially objective with him at this point. I realise he's an alright manager but he does my head in, he did my head in at the back end of his last tenure here (before all of the Man Utd sneakiness) and I find him even more irritating now. He's just not a winner and the way he constantly talks us down grates me enormously. However, if we actually tried playing some of our fringe players, in their actual positions, even if it meant we lost some supposedly winnable games, my estimation of him would go up. Let's be frank, we're losing "winnable" games anyway, we might as well learn something in the process rather than just run the same 13 players into the ground.

I agree. This season can be deemed too important and too big a season to give up on, IF we bring some players in in January, and therefore make it clear we are pushing for Europe.

If, as many of us suspect, we don't, and we pat ourselves on the head for finishing 12th, there is no argument to not bed in the younger player imo.

It’s annoying though. I get the whole ‘let’s be cautious approach’ as nobody wants points deductions and stuff again but I genuinely believe we are about 3 or 4 good players off challenging for top 6 this year. A good right back, left back, forward and now a winger, the problem is if we wait for summer certain players could go, dare I say it N’Diaye will have some suitors, same with Jarad, Grealish could go back to City and never come back.

It’s all good saying let’s wait until summer but I feel we should try and get a few in now. Go and offer Wolves 15m for that Mane. Go and offer Lyon 40m for Fofana, go and offer money for this Holm, or Boey, sell Beto and get someone else in.

Just boring every transfer window.
And let's have it right, our going big was peanuts. Just over £100m spent is nothing these days. Players that 15 years ago were going for about £10m are going for £35+.

We all know we'll get told this summer that it is a difficult and slow window because of the world cup, and the fact that we probably won't have Europe. It's just poor excuses.

And it also annoys me that people keep wheeling out the Tosun and Walcott January window as this spectre of what bad decisions in January get you. So they are using their past horrendous failings as an excuse for inaction. Well I can think of very few clubs who would think that £80m all in on those two (including wages) is anything other than moronic.

There is a gulf between the extremes of safer to do nothing, and signing Tosun and Walcott for huge fees. If the recruitment team and board did their jobs properly, they could easily improve us without saddling us with immovable dross.

The excuses we are fed are crazy. Proper specious reasoning.

Agree the knife to a gunfight mentality was a killer first time round. In Martinez's first season It was the most refreshing period of football we played in years. I always felt we could win something with him, turns out I was wrong but at least he offered hope. Moyes as good an all a manager he is and his record proves I've never warmed to him.

I admit I’ve not watched much of him, but Transfermarkt has him listed as a wide player, mainly on the RW, so I could see him getting in our team as Dibling isn’t really wanted by the manager

Hahaha what?

Honestly, some people think some very strange things.

Say it again, but slower

???

Yaser Asprilla been made available by Girona,16 mil price tag.

If you're looking for someone to fill Jack's boots, he's the one.

Seems to have massively dropped off since leaving Watford.

I

I thought Thelwell had agreed deals for Wesley and Truffert (c £40m?) last January but Moyes vetoed them? Well that’s what I’ve read on here anyway!

Why not read the reports from Paul Joyce & Paddy Boyland?

Just making yourself look a bit daft.

It might work on a computer but real life with real people can be strange

Speaking of daft...

Well if he plays it safe and sticks to McNeil and others and still finishes mid table, i will still want him gone...and just to save future argument, mid table is 8-13th?
