January Transfer Window 2026

….the anti-Moyes brigade want Dibling to play over McNeil, Moyes selects McNeil v Villa and gets a great win yet there’s still an insistence he plays Dibling.

Play McNeil at Villa and win, they complain over the selection. Play Dibling at Villa and lose & they’ll be the first ones posting after the game that Moyes should be sacked
He also played McNeil in a bunch of games we lost and drew. Do we only use the last game as evidence? The goldfish approach?

What a bizarre post.

This season is far too important to be giving Dibling a go if he’s not good enough, Pre-season will be the time to try and integrate him in. Barry and Dibling in the same team is a massive risk.
Is it? Why? What, realistically, can we achieve this season? This season seems like a perfect season to bed in new players. We're not going down, we're unlikely to challenge the upper reaches of the league, we're out of the cups. It seems a perfect, low risk opportunity to give players game time. It won't happen, like, but this season isn't important at all.

Don’t worry apparently we are targeting yet another “big summer”.

From i paper.
It’s annoying though. I get the whole ‘let’s be cautious approach’ as nobody wants points deductions and stuff again but I genuinely believe we are about 3 or 4 good players off challenging for top 6 this year. A good right back, left back, forward and now a winger, the problem is if we wait for summer certain players could go, dare I say it N’Diaye will have some suitors, same with Jarad, Grealish could go back to City and never come back.

It’s all good saying let’s wait until summer but I feel we should try and get a few in now. Go and offer Wolves 15m for that Mane. Go and offer Lyon 40m for Fofana, go and offer money for this Holm, or Boey, sell Beto and get someone else in.

Just boring every transfer window.

Why is THIS season so important? Even the most negative dont think we will go down and with injuries and home form our chances of Europe are slim. Moyes has ensured we dont have to worry about cup runs this year so one game a week at most. THIS is the perfect season to give our young players time to bed in...they dont all have to be on the field simultaneously...nothing to lose and lots to gain...

You do realise we are only 3 points off a CL position, and even closer to the other 2 Europe comps. Still 16 games left. Not saying we will finish in a CL position but every chance to still play in Europe, and far from using this year to blood players with a view at next year. Moyes would loose his job and this place would loose its head.

Mateta though lids. Only £40m

Some like to exist in a state of hysteria, projecting their own sadness and anger onto others. I say to these brothers of ours, come let us heal you. Come into our embrace, the nasty corporate football team can’t hurt you there.
I think a visit to the launderette would do them more good than a group hug
Those of us who have lived and breathed our wonderful football club know really know that “ it’s the hope that kills you “ so we have learned to accept disappointment as our due reward and expect nothing and are not shocked when we receive even less
GOT should ban transfer threads as they are not good for a lot of people’s mental stability
Expect nothing and you will rarely be disappointed and occasionally thrilled
Those who know, know

Not necessarily as easy as that. The players the recruitment team might have identified simply might not be available mid season, or the players don't want to come here. Thats assuming there are even significant funds to spend in the first place, when Moyes has said previously its probably an unrealistic expectation.

Mane looks good, but Wolves aren't selling their teenage star on the cheap any more than we'd be selling Armstrong for the same amount. As for Beto, no idea what club in their right mind would want to sign a sub-standard striker whose only attribute is running around a lot.
