January Transfer Window 2026

IMO we should play Ndiaye on the left, yes. But Ild tell Dibling he has the shirt on the right for the rest of the season and bed that lad in properly for next season.

---Gueye----Iroegbunam
---Dibling KDH Ndiaye
---------Barry

...is not too shabby.
This season is far too important to be giving Dibling a go if he’s not good enough, Pre-season will be the time to try and integrate him in. Barry and Dibling in the same team is a massive risk.

I would suggest theres nothing important about this season, so its perfect to give Dibling a run-out. If the ownership is not going to try and get any players to make a push to europe, theres no importance to this season. We area already just a couple matches away from being safe from relegation, and are just going to finish somewhere mid-table. If we arent attempting to push on, we should play the young guys to let them develop and see what they have.

I
Ever heard of context?

Last Jan write off for obvious reasons

Summer was a success, surprised anyone arguing otherwise. Yes quality of some signings could be better but big clear out and volume of signings always brought risk. Lot of signings for the future as well

This Jan not finished yet but notoriously difficult to do good value business. Hopefully we get a decent right back

Crazy to be saying that they've had three windows and nothing to show for it
I thought Thelwell had agreed deals for Wesley and Truffert (c £40m?) last January but Moyes vetoed them? Well that’s what I’ve read on here anyway!

Regardless of that, and I agree it’s an unfair criticism, what Moyes should be criticised is either 1) him failing to develop Dibling by playing him more (your point above stands) or more significantly 2) signing off on his purchase in the first place given spending 40m of what he knew our budget to be on a 19 year old seems to have been a costly mistake. I’m not anti Moyes but he should be praised when he does well and be criticised when he does not.

….i’ve never defended Moyes’ part in Dibling’s transfer, he has to be accountable for that but I won’t blame him for Dibling’s poor performances and lack of game time.

Posters want Moyes to ‘give him a run of games’, they complain when we win and Dibling doesn’t start. Those posters will be the first to start the ‘Moyes out’ threads if he plays Dibling and we lose. You couldn’t write the script.

At least the excuse about Dibling not playing because he’s a teenager have abated since Moyes gave Armstrong his first PL start

If we were buying players now and looking to push for Europe Ild agree. But it looks unlikely and we need to therefore properly hand game time to Dibling, Rohl and Aznou.

Let's see what we have on our hands here.

We went into summer wanting and needing, amongst other things, at least 1 properly fast genuine winger. In terms of wide players, we brought in Grealish and Dibling.

We still need at least 1 properly fast genuine winger. We didn’t bring one in. Grealish is not that player, currently not our player, and “may” not play ever again for us. Dibling isn’t particularly rapid, doesn’t rely on pace at least, and to be honest, doesn’t look anything like a winger, regardless of where he has played in his career so far. He’s a very talented young footballer with, as yet, no obvious role.

If an unarguably good and relatively proven one is available in Jan, I’d go for it, even if it meant a slight (say £5m) overpayment. Everything will be on hold in summer when all the top players are too busy to negotiate, then the floodgates will open and we will get whatever slightly injured crap is left at the end. And Dwight will be getting minutes by October.
