And let's have it right, our going big was peanuts. Just over £100m spent is nothing these days. Players that 15 years ago were going for about £10m are going for £35+.

We all know we'll get told this summer that it is a difficult and slow window because of the world cup, and the fact that we probably won't have Europe. It's just poor excuses.

And it also annoys me that people keep wheeling out the Tosun and Walcott January window as this spectre of what bad decisions in January get you. So they are using their past horrendous failings as an excuse for inaction. Well I can think of very few clubs who would think that £80m all in on those two (including wages) is anything other than moronic.

There is a gulf between the extremes of safer to do nothing, and signing Tosun and Walcott for huge fees. If the recruitment team and board did their jobs properly, they could easily improve us without saddling us with immovable dross.

The excuses we are fed are crazy. Proper specious reasoning.

The Tosun and Walcott window is a bit of a weird thing that people got hung up about, in the sense that it didn't really have anything to do with it being January, it was totally in keeping with what we did in summer windows. They also both did quite well at first too. I suppose the key thing is whether you're able to get who you actually want in January, or whether there's a bigger possibility that you're just bringing what's available. It's not that bringing in quality in January is impossible, but there is a clear preference across most teams for doing business in the summer, so there's obviously more to it than we might think from the outside.

Honestly, some people think some very strange things.

Dibling has had one league game so far where he played 90 minutes, even when he has started games he's been subbed at half time twice, he's behind Ndiaye, but even when Ndiaye doesn't play, he's behind Dwight McNeil, even Alcaraz has played RW ahead of Dibling. The manager either doesn't trust him or doesn't think he is ready.

Ndiaye being at AFCON should have been his chance to make that RW position his, but he's been in and out the team and the last 3 league games, he got hooked at half time against Brentford and was on the bench against Wolves and Villa and didnt get on, despite us struggling for numbers

Just found this from the summer from Paddy. Moyes seems to have a right of veto for players so this suggests he didn’t pull the plug on an agreed deal

I'm assuming you mean next season as I don't think anyone would class Dibling as one of the leagues best wide options this season and Grealish is about to miss about 12 games.
