January Transfer Window 2026

Not sure id bring in a Grealish replacement to be honest (or we will) , id be looking to utilise Dibling more.
Even if we move Ndiaye back on the left and make Dibling a starter, we would still only have McNeil (not good enough) and Aznou (Moyes won't use) as options off the bench.

I wholeheartedly agree that we need to just start throwing Dibling in there and give him a run of games, we defo need to sign a winger or a 10 as well though, arguably both.

the same Dibling who is behind McNeil in the pecking order ?

for me Dibling has skills but he lacks the real willingness / determination from a 19 year old who needs to still prove himself.
also without a proper overlapping right back he is poor

This is my opinion on Dibling and his purchase mate:

I think its getting in there and investing in them over a 3-4 year period, that part of the industry we haven't been part of in long, long time - so much so people just assume Tyler is a waste of money.

Many clubs invest not just for right now, but over 3-4 period. Spurs have done it with the like of Gray and Bergval. Villa did it with Rogers, Scott at Bournemouth, Brighton with everyone and Brentford/Palace with quite a few also.

When i look at our squad, i think that's what we are trying to do as a strategy - i dont believe Dibling was bought for this season - do i see a role -sure, but i dont think he bought with the intention of being relied on, i think he brought in for the medium/long term.

The make up of the squad is essentially purposely 50/50 after the summer - there is half of it approx from 24 -19. Then 50% approx 25-33. Thats not an accident IMO

In the 24-19 squad, the youngest are Armstrong, Dibling and Aznou - i dont expect much from them, Dibling is treated differently because of the fee, but hes really at the same developmental phase as Armstrong and Aznou - they are all a group for the next 2-4 years IMO.

That in my opinion why we invested in him and the strategy behind it. I think as a club we need to be doing that also.

Fair point but they seem to know something because their track record is excellent.
Also I don’t think the Brazil top flight is any more of a gamble than say Germany at the moment.
Outside of Bayern, the quality isn’t great - Dortmund were awful against a limited Spurs team and there have been a number of high profile signings that have bombed in the premier league.
Tend to agree, some cracking players though in not very good teams. We should be raiding Frankfurt while they don't have a manager, Can Uzun looks unbelievable.

Bournemouth paying £30m for a 19 year old Brazilian striker.
Brazil U20 international who scored 14 goals in 34 Brazilian top‑flight matches last season.
That’s exactly the profile of player we should be looking for - ready now but with significant potential.
We paid £27m for a 22 year old French striker who'd scored 11 goals in 35 games in La Liga and plenty of our fans seemed to think that was a big gamble.

I think it's fair to say that more money for a younger player from a worse league would be considered more of risk.

For me we look internally mate, McNeill has the shirt now, up to Dibling to take it off him - he will get mins of the bench.

I see very little point in bringing someone in and basically just ignoring McNeill and Dibling, while adding an Extra cost unnecessarily onto Grealish's £225k a week. Practically just dont think we will do it, nor we need to.

The only way i see it happening if say they had a long term target like Kubo or Fofana who suddenly became available willing to come and the clubs could do a sensible deal - in that scenario i think its the ned of Grealsih for the future.

We have no idea if he is yet, and thats more than we have paid for any striker ever.

The murmurings from journalists since Grealish injury was confirmed suggests this is the view of the transfer team.

I agree we shouldn't just do it for the sake of it, learned that the hard way in past January windows. It's stressing me out thinking of relying on what we have though, and thats without any potential injuries that may occur.

Fofana is the one I can maybe see us going back in for on loan with an obligation. Just coming back from a long lay off, maybe takes the price down a bit but also brings a question of the severity of the injury he's suffered and if that could be a problem. Also obviously issue in summer was that he didn't want to come without Europe. Kubo is a no go, off injured last week with a hamstring injury.

I think that's it mare, the three deals we defo pursued in the summer were Bakayoko, Fofana - the two didn't want to come and Kubo we walked away because of his clubs demands. We ended up with Dibling and Grealish.

So really if plan A is the three i mentioned and they arent available - then someone would need to be better in the medium to long term then Grealish and Dibling - which id suggest is unlikely in this window.

that is clearly their modus operandi

evanilson
kroupi jnr

i call it the hit and hope method
Heard that McNulty talking about Rayan the other day. He said he’s a talent but could really struggle with the premier league. More of a striker/wide forward than a winger (basically crap in tight spaces but good in front of goal/space to run into).

We need something more proven I’d say.
