2025/26 Tyler Dibling

tbf mate we weren't competing with anyone for him. Just us.

I think its getting in there and investing in them over a 3-4 year period, that part of the industry we haven't been part of in long, long time - so much so people just assume Tyler is a waste of money.

Many clubs invest not just for right now, but over 3-4 period. Spurs have done it with the like of Gray and Bergval. Villa did it with Rogers, Scott at Bournemouth, Brighton with everyone and Brentford/Palace with quite a few also.

When i look at our squad, i think that's what we are trying to do as a strategy - i dont believe Dibling was bought for this season - do i see a role -sure, but i dont think he bought with the intention of being relied on, i think he brought in for the medium/long term.

The make up of the squad is essentially purposely 50/50 after the summer - there is half of it approx from 24 -19. Then 50% approx 25-33. Thats not an accident IMO

In the 24-19 squad, the youngest are Armstrong, Dibling and Aznou - i dont expect much from them, Dibling is treated differently because of the fee, but hes really at the same developmental phase as Armstrong and Aznou - they are all a group for the next 2-4 years IMO.

That in my opinion why we invested in him and the strategy behind it. I think as a club we need to be doing that also.

I sincerely hope you are correct mate.

These are the type of signings we’ve been bemoaning not making for years.

We can’t now start throwing the toys out the pram when the kid isn’t doing the business at 19 years of age.

No young player will ever flourish here until we, the fans, take a good look at ourselves.
People havent been bemoaning spending the majority of our budget on players in this category though have they. That’s the frustration. 5-15 million on players of this category, might come good, might not.

However, if you’re a club who’s nearly been sent into non existence due to poor financial mismanagement. Probably best to make sure the teenager you’re making the SECOND most expensive signing in your clubs entire history, is ready to play, considering our lack of depth.

Not going after a right back and not going after a winger with pace and directness is exactly the type of signing we should be bemoaning. This isn't indicative of his quality or potential. There are plenty of reasons to hate these signings.

A quality attacking RB can play further advanced up the pitch. A pacy wing gives us a good counter attacking option which we completely lack. I completely disagree that we shouldn't be crucifying these signings when we brought in Grealish as well. This is essentially a depth signing which does nothing for us THIS year. We are out of the cups. Not in Europe.
