And then what ? Invest again to ensure league form isn’t hampered by Europe. All too familiar tale unless you're backed by a nation state. Europe would kill us. Last campaign in Europa league proved that with a paper thin, low in quality squad.

Hammond was always an odd one.

The weirder one for me and the error was giving Moyes a free reign.

Moyes clearly doesn't have a free reign in transfers. The summer signing showed this.

He'll moan about the lack of activity, but in reality I imagine the club are preparing for life without him and are therefore (rightly) prepared not to lad the squad with his wishlist of players; thus avoiding the issues Everton have encountered continually for the past decade.

Basically a strong gamble that we'll finish safely this season with the current squad - which we patently will.
