January Transfer Window 2026

We knew the day we signed Ndiaye and Gana they would be unavailable for up to 6 weeks at this time of the season. We’ve known for at least 3 years that we need a new right back and arguably a new left back. We’ve known since we signed him that Beto isn’t good enough. Yet we’re once again sitting on our hands in a transfer window as if we don’t need any new signings. Everyone understood the situation financially before the takeover but there’s no excuse now.
A ridiculous powderpuff piece in the echo this week where Moyes boldly talks about Europe, yet in pre and post match interviews just rolls out the tired excuses he was using the first time he was here. Kinnear before Christmas blowing smoke up his own backside about how amazing our summer transfers were, yet here we are only 4 points above Leeds who were locked in a relegation battle before Christmas.
If we let the season drift and we finish bottom half, they’ve got their summer transfer excuse ready made, same as last season ‘we couldn’t attract the players we wanted.’ No, because you’re showing a chronic lack of ambition. Then Moyes will act all surprised when Ndiaye says he wants to leave.
Everything has changed but nothing has changed.

The Echo is more or less unofficial PR for the club. Would rather buy real toilet paper to be honest.

Genuinely have yet to see a single poster on here say with their chest that they want to see Moyes see out the full duration of his contract.

Made a thread last week for the purpose of assessing next manager options in summer. Lots of replies, none saying that we stick with Moyes in summer.

If people are out there with that opinion then fair enough, I've just not really seen it.

Personally, I can't see TFG having a lot of patience with Dithering Davey.

TFG appear happy to just stay in the division. We had a chance to kick on into the European places with a good January window, but before it even started they were falling over themselves to tell people nothing was happening.

I have seen nothing to suggest they won’t be very happy to keep Moyes.

Last year we had four strikers and Beto was firing on all cylinders. This year we've got two and Beto seems a bit lacklustre. Beto when competing with DCL, Chermiti and Broja for that number 9 really had to step up and prove his worth. Maybe he learnt a bit from them too. I am thinking that what Beto may be lacking is perhaps a competent, all round complete striker to really go toe to toe with like with DCL. If we bring in another decent forward and some real competition we may see Beto bringing back his form from a year ago.

And then what ? Invest again to ensure league form isn’t hampered by Europe. All too familiar tale unless you're backed by a nation state. Europe would kill us. Last campaign in Europa league proved that with a paper thin, low in quality squad.
I remember our fans saying this years back and then fighting relegation ever since. Anyone who has any negativity about qualifying for Europe needs to have a word with themselves.

So, being in Europe will harm our league position, erm so what’s the aim of a good league position.

Getting into Europe of course.

Can’t make it up with our fans.
