January Transfer Window 2026

I’d love us to take the Brighton/Brentford approach, but as a club and fan base these type of players would either not get their chance because Moyes won’t play them due to lack of prem experience or they will get written off by us after misplacing a pass when they come off the bench in the 89th minute. Something needs to change drastically all round for us to change the mentality of this club. Each window we’re linked with the same old dross. We should have scouts in South America and watching Championship games looking for the next star but we just keep pulling out the same old cack trying to sign players from big clubs who are looking to reinvigorate their careers or bank balances even further.

This is true, but as long as you get the usual armchair experts saying things like Dibling is a waste of money after 10 minutes playing time, nothing will change

Fans will accept a plan to get to the top but I can’t accept is a misalignment of ideas.

Perfect chance for a fresh start this season, new stadium, new owners and no PSR concerns.

Unfortunately it seems our new Yank overlords don’t really care for us and have hired a dud in our CEO and his transfer guru Hammond.

Shocking and unforgivable given the pain and trauma we’ve had to go through especially over the last 4/5 years.

I agree, but we should be finding the Diblings of the world before they’re valued at £40 million.

Kind of. Its not going to be easy going for the young English players.

I do think we should be paying a premium for them because they can:

A: Have tremendous value upside
B: Form the long term nucleus of the squad.

So for the likes of Dibling and other U19, u21 English players its a smart long term play.

I think we’d all love us to follow the Brentford / Brighton approach but we don’t’ have any of the prerequisites:

- An intelligent CEO who understands the value of identifying young undervalued players with significant upside
- A qualified management group with the teams / data to identify these type of players
- A flexible, forward thinking manager who is able to bring in new players and quickly incorporate them into the playing squad

We’ve got 0/3.

Our fans don’t have the patience for young players unfortunately.

They slate the manager for not playing them, and as soon as they get a game or 2, they’re written off immediately.

Wish people would assume we will be selling our best players.
We should be a different club now. No Kenwright to sell the family silver anymore.

I expect that if Dibling gets going next season we may find that some fans are asking why we didnt sell Ndiaye for big money this summer.

Thats how obtuse things can become.

Hammond was always an odd one.

The weirder one for me and the error was giving Moyes a free reign.

The issue with Dibling is that certain individuals on here are acting like he is some sort of wonderkid which was never the case, that then puts huge expectation on the player and when its not matched people start moaning. I live on the south coast and I know Saints fans who will tell you that they had Alcaraz higher up the pecking order than they ever did Dibling. He also has a bit of a languid, lazy style about the way he plays which used to drive them nuts and our fans have noticed it. Moyes hasn't helped the situation either tbf and the treatment of the lad has been very odd at times. I'm sure we all hope it works out for him in the long run.
