January Transfer Window 2026

I hope you are right and I am wrong but especially for Barry and Rohl, I just can't see it.
Barry I still hold long term faith for because of how he was at Villareal - he was aggressive in the box and just generally a complete handful. It doesn't surprise me at all that he was a high target for us. He just looks devoid of confidence currently.

Rohl though looks the way he always has (admittedly I've only gone back and watched a couple old matches to see what he looked like at CM). I don't understand what we thought we were buying there, this just seems like who he is as a player.

Barry is rubbish mate. If he’s our starting striker next season then just write it off already.

Yeah and then people would have changed their mind after about 5 minutes. Quality player.
Yeah he is cracking player,
I wouldn't jump past Xhaka and say they had a cracking window though.
Remove him, and your looking at a totally different team.

He does Regis le bri's job for him..

After the years of spunking away billion pounds, it really is scary that the club have spent nearly £100 million on Barry, Rohl and Dibling in the summer. To be fair, KDH was a good signing but it still doesn't bode well.
I actually think we have a good collection of players with some glaring issues in others that dismantles the whole balance of the squad.

Pickford is an excellent keeper. Branthwaite, O'Brien and Tarkowski are all good quality centre backs. Aznou was highly thought of by Bayern and has a lot of potential (obvious to everyone who had seen him, bar Moyes it seems).

To have CM options of KDH, Gana, Garner, Iroegbunam, Armstrong and Alcaraz is genuinely good depth. Röhl definitely had potential in the Bundesliga but was inconsistent and injury prone - wouldn't write him off yet (certainly not as a squad player). Illy is class, as is Grealish.

Dibling and Barry have genuine potential. I've seen both play well before they came to us, and they are young. And I really wouldn't want Moyes to be my manager if I was young.

We have no pace, no full backs and need more striking options (that is not to write off Barry, it's just a pathetically small number of attackers to have).

Sell off the deadwood and bring in things to address the gaps and this squad is transformed. A few years back we had about 3 players I would have kept if it was my choice. We are improving. But not quickly enough and itnis unforgivable to not address at least some of these in January. A striker on loan and some competent full backs (they don't even have to be world-beaters) and we could still get into Europe. The league is awful. Probably the lowest quality I can remember. And yet, I get the feeling that between Moyes, the committee and the owners, no one's in any rush to take us forward.

Rohl is on loan, not bought with an inflated fee

Dibling is a good player, will become a great player if we get a manager who has an ounce of faith in him to help him develop rather than leaving him constantly looking over his shoulder for the hook as soon as the second half kicks off.

Barry is a 21 year old kid coming into the most physical and demanding league in the world, he's shown enough for me (and for many ex-pros) to be confident that he'll develop well (with the same caveats as listed after Dibling above). Plus £25m is the base line for any striker these days. We've all seen higher fees wasted on far worse players.

Someone needs to buy them?

Sales are a two way street Zat.

We paid a £2.5mil fee to loan Rohl & the balance of £17.5mil (or it may be total) is due to begin in the summer as its a loan with obligation.

Barry is 23 not 21 :)

I believe we have to pay 20m for Rohl this summer. I've no idea who scouted him. Armstrong is twice the player.

Barry is 23, not 21. He's not good enough. I dont see any way he's a good premier league striker. Neither his general play or finishing are good

Dibling hasn't performed so far and 40m was far too high a fee. He might become a great player but he's not good enough right now. And he isn't working hard enough for the team. Unless that changes, he won't make it here. Thankfully he still has plenty of time to improve.

Did you hate Le Tissier & Riquelme?

What we learned in the last week isn't only that we need about 6 or 7 new quality players. We also need to sell about 6 or 7 of our squad players because they aren't capable of stepping in and doing a decent job.

I'm still waiting for a proper overhaul of the squad. It's not something to fear its just what's needed.

Which 6 or 7 to sell?

Interesting listening to Charlie Adam who was commenting on the game this afternoon.

Was pretty effusive on both Beto and Barry but made a point of saying Barry was bought because he won the most aerial duels in La Liga last year.
Sounds like they were looking for a target man in the Drogba mould.

How very Moyes.

Barry probably doesnt expext the aerial bombardment every game and to be honest I dont welcome it either.

Doesnt look like hes coached on where to run etc

Whoever tried to push “Barry wins headers” as a pro for signing him needs a slap. He’s 6’5” of course he’s going to win a few headers in La Liga where all their centre halves are 5’10” and have no interest with the ball not being on the floor. Barely ever wins a header for us and, more importantly, his attacking headers in the box are atrocious.
