January Transfer Window 2026

Comparisons like this are pointless. They gambled last Jan and couldn’t afford to keep the players they loaned permanently and are basically still balancing the books with the massive fee they got for Duran, who at the time was one of their best players. Also, because of their form and league position, there is much more incentive for players to consider going there in Jan than to us. We are in completely different phases as football clubs. The encouraging thing is seeing where they have come from the past few seasons, which shows over time it can be done.
They just lucked out getting Emery - the end.
Imagine if carlo had come to us four seasons later probably similar things would have developed.

Villa starting to make moves just like they’ve done every January under Emery. Don’t care how difficult they make it out to be, there’s deals to be done in January. Just a shame the clubs ambition doesn’t come closing to matching the fans

So what you’re saying is they backed their manager “gambled” and now sit joint top of the Europa league table and 6 points off the top in the premier league. Last January and the January before they were 9th and 11th at the beginning of the month. We’ll never push on if we sit on our hands, Newcastle another example.

There's always something to play for. Right now it's winning as many games as possible, getting the younger players integrated into the squad to set for next season and ultimately finishing as high up the table as we can
Midtable finishes are Midtable finishes. No one cares if you come 10th 11th or 12th

There's no excitement left for supporters and there's no meaningful football left. It's am embarassment and sums up why we are consistently an irrelevant club

They don't even have the ambition to build a functioning squad with enough players in the right positions. Why should supporters get excited about the rest of the season?

Did you hate Le Tissier & Riquelme?

Which 6 or 7 to sell?

How very Moyes.

Barry probably doesnt expext the aerial bombardment every game and to be honest I dont welcome it either.

Doesnt look like hes coached on where to run etc
Absolutely ridiculous to try and compare Dibling with Le Tissier at this point. He's done nothing yet in his career

Well Le Tissier was almost before my time but he was an incredibly talented player who also delivered goals and match winning moments

Comparing him to a 19 year old Tyler Dibling is as of right now, an absolutely ridiculous comparison

Neither player has ever been known for their energy level and yet when Le Tissier was playing for Southampton as a teenager, nobody cared.

I think the most important thing Villa did was employing a top class manager something we fail to do

You're right Tim this season is over unless either we get a new manager or see Moyes actually try and blood the younger players in preparation for next season. We all know Moyes will keep his job and carry on ignoring Aznou and hanging Dibling out to dry though with the added annoyance of persevering with O'Brien at right back so it'll be much the same drudgery for the rest of the season

Ancelotti used us as he was at a loose end. He was never in it for the long haul.
He did but he is an example of a top class manager we have had, and unless you are going to manage teams who consistently qualify for Europe or titles,
all clubs will have that happen to them, they’ll move onto those clubs eventually.
