January Transfer Window 2026

….i’d expect it’s not him who’s told how much they have to spend.
I genuinely think Moyes and the club know he wont be here next season and thats why nothing much or anything will be done this window.

We have gaping holes in the squad but were are not in any danger at all, so best wait for the summer and hopefully under a new manager.

….i’d be sure he sees out his contract unless we’re ever involved in a relegation battle. The question is whether the owners and Moyes want him to be here longer. I suspect Moyes might not.

He’s bringing the stability the club needed for the transition to the new stadium, a huge improvement to before he came in. I have no doubt we’d still be in the cup and got more points if he’d had Ndiaye and more specifically KDH available over this busy period. KDH makes a huge difference to this team.

The downside to the owners will be monies spent on Dibling and Barry. I’m sure they’ll want to see an improvement on that front in the summer window but I’d be certain they’re happy with the overall job Moyes has done.

A lot to be asked of this ‘Transfer Committee’, including Moyes.

We won't go down
We won't get Europe
We can't win anything

The season is effectively over and there's very little to play for. That's where we are at unfortunately. It's why not taking the league Cup seriously made me so annoyed.
There's always something to play for. Right now it's winning as many games as possible, getting the younger players integrated into the squad to set for next season and ultimately finishing as high up the table as we can

My realistic view on the rest of the window: seeing we are linked to about 5 RB's you would think we get one in. Ideally someone who could play right wing too when N Diaye is out.
A striker i dont see happening. There will be a bidding war for Strand Larsen at the end of the window but we wont win or we dont bid. Only viable option is to trade Beto and the Ukrainian lad with Rome, both a loan to freshen things up. But these things often dont come off

I'd suggest Patterson wouldn't be awful on the right as a back up for the rest of this season. Just my opinion. He played Aznou, a LB by design if you like on left wing after all. Positions are fluid after all and apart from GK and possibly CF most other plsyers are versatile.

Pure guesswork this

Villa starting to make moves just like they’ve done every January under Emery. Don’t care how difficult they make it out to be, there’s deals to be done in January. Just a shame the clubs ambition doesn’t come closing to matching the fans

Comparisons like this are pointless. They gambled last Jan and couldn’t afford to keep the players they loaned permanently and are basically still balancing the books with the massive fee they got for Duran, who at the time was one of their best players. Also, because of their form and league position, there is much more incentive for players to consider going there in Jan than to us. We are in completely different phases as football clubs. The encouraging thing is seeing where they have come from the past few seasons, which shows over time it can be done.
