Thank goodness there's this thing called a 'window' that opened 3 weeks ago. Ffs, in this thread alone we had been linked with two boss German keepers with rally low release clauses or 6 months left on their contract.
 
Wilfried Zaha? £3M with another £3M in addons if successful?

probably better than most of our other options for that price, though he'll be nailed on for Palace.

You may think that players are equally difficult/easy to buy in both windows but I think you are in a tiny minority.
Buying and selling players disrupts a squad. It is generally clubs in most trouble that do most business and pay dearly for it.

I'm not saying anything of the sort.

Players aren't easier or harder in either window if a team has no reason to sell and the player doesn't want to move.

It's a question of availability. Of course there are more players available in the summer but there are still those that come available in January. If a player becomes available which we want then we should buy them in January rather than wait. If you wait then you run the risk that their circumstances change e.g. Delph has just signed a new contract probably because of the disruption of signing Gil and seeing that Villa are actually building a decent side. Likewise there's a good chance Cleverly might actually stay at Villa in the summer for the same reason although we would never be that lucky.
 
I'm actually surprised we've not been linked with Nick Powell. Still only 20, knows Bobby, has quite a bit of experience, knocking them in for fun for the ManUre U21s, forward looking midfielder....?

He has never impressed me and I question his character but for that price I would be interested but ultimately probably swerve.

Personally don't think he is going to be as good as everyone think he is going to be. Decent player, but wouldn't want us to spend too much money on him.
