My heart breaks for everyone involved. Terrorist organisations shooting dead random people will not further their cause, it just brings more misery to their own with the retaliation strikes. You can kind of understand when the attacks are targeted against people who are in power, made the policy or green lit activities against the Palestinians, but this is beyond the pale and will set them back for decades.

Just an insane amount of dead that didn't have to and that number will continue to grow by a massive amount daily. In the end only compromise and negotiations will ever work, Israel is not going anywhere soon. I hope I live to see peace there, however fragile, as there are always going to be incidents, but this has probably put an end to that chance. Slim as it was to begin with.

Perhaps although there are a few videos of Israelis appearing who seem mystified that Hamas could get anywhere near the border walls without being detected by all the surveillance and sensors etc built into the wall

I just don't see there being any way in which Israel or the US or the UK or their other allies didn't have some intel of a large-scale attack.

That's not to say they anticipated or knew about 5,000 rockets being launched, but I'd be willing to bet they knew something was coming and could probably have moved to stop it sooner.

The Israeli state is bad. Hamas is bad. Unfortunately lots of people who've done nothing wrong on both sides have died, and will die. And the world will watch on.

FWIW, I just hope this opens people's eyes to stuff like Ukraine etc and the West's involvement and ultimately backing (by that I mean continued support of ukraine, which of course is needed, but so far seemingly minimal appetite to get the war actually brought to an end) of that conflict.

Slight difference is that Israel didn’t start any military attack upon Palestinians. Hamas, the effective government of the Gaza Strip attacked Israel. How does that stack up with your explanation to your wife…..

Videos I've unfortunately seen posted on Reddit: Young Israeli children locked in animal cages and Hamas fighters laughing at them; a Filipino worker mortally wounded to his stomach having his neck hacked at with a shovel; a young Israeli woman being kidnapped and driven off on a motorbike; a young German woman dead and being driven away and sat on by Hamas fighters. Probably only the tip of the iceberg, and these are all innocent people.

HAMAS are going to face global outrage at what is coming out. Iran also if they are found to complicit, which is a sure bet.

Voices opposed to Israeli brutality may well find themselves drowned out by what will be seen as the biggest terrorist attack since 9/11. There is a video they have taken of a boy about six, clearly in a state of shock as they berate and poke him, then hit him with a stick or the like. I get that there is bad blood but these types of things are going to lead to large scale revenge.

I just read on the BBC News that 11 citizens of Thailand had been captured by Hamas. So what do they do with them? I have no clue whether Hamas have a problem with Thailand but it would seem unlikely, but I am no expert, so do they do the decent thing and release them? Probably not I guess

I’m not sure the ‘Palestinians’ have done this at all, otherwise tens of thousands of them would have crossed the border. This has been done by Hamas terrorists which are a much lesser number, but it’s both the Israeli population and Palestinian population that will suffer…….
