Isolated Players (Front Page Article)

Vlasic is the only one out of that lot that i had time for but he was quite frustrating and never really reached the levels he looked like he could. Granted he didnt get much of a look in last season but Silva has definitely had a good look at him. I will be happy to see them all gone and it is refreshing to have a management team who will do whatever is required to try and move us forward and progress.

Koeman tried that too , worked out well didn't it
Nah mate this is different. Niasse was treated unfairly.

This group of players contain at least two alleged players with a bad attitude/discipline. I for one would not like them polluting the squad if that's the case. They may be the root cause of the mindset of the team last year.

Indeed.

Sends the message that coasting a career away on big wages isn't going to be tolerated. Can't understand any negative view on this - my response is relief that something is finally being done.

There's another that needs the same treatment - Schneiderlin - but I accept that it all can't happen in one window. To have the manager successfully identify the four worst players at the club for various reasons is tremendous news.
Perhaps Morgan has shown he can be sound away from alleged bad influences.

Agree with the rest there though.

Vlasic I'm sort of surprised by but not surprsied, should probably go out on loan really.

The rest can go in the bin and Jags can go with them too.

..if it’s a character and attitude problem, I doubt any of them are overly bothered. Not a bad old life earning £50k per week for keeping fit.

From a profile perspective, this gets their names out there and it’s a ‘come and buy them’ message from the club.

You talk some tosh. Swing the axe? He´s still our most reliable centre half.
We´re obviously doing our best to recruit a defender, but until we do, who would you have Silva replace him with?

No, he's awful mate, but people won't allow it to be said because he's been at the club ages and built up a rapport with the fans that Keane and Williams haven't. Jagielka is as bad as them, and he's 36. No other team in the league starts 36 year old outfield players.

....but Jagielka is still captain.

How does that make sense?

I doubt his attitude stinks the place out, he knows his place to try and help others and be a back up when required (if we get the players in we should).

Maybe all 4 are in advanced talks to leave, so the coaching staff don't want to use them in preparing for the last game of pre season. Glass half full this morning.

Or the more sinister version, that all are dragging their heals over moving, so Silva is pressing the point that they won't even get a look in with the first team. So if they want to play they have to leave.

We need to find a way to not have him in the team, and should have done so 2/3 years ago, but that doesn't take away from the fact that he was - comfortably - our best centre half last year. It's not a great accolade no, but it's still true, and as we haven't signed anyone else to play there, it means it would be absolutely ludicrous to punt him at this point.

Vlasic hasn't shown anything that has made me think he is good enough at this level. I'm not surprised Silva is looking to move him on because he looked exasperated at him during some of the friendlies.

I don’t see how he was “better” over the course of the season though. He had the odd good game, but so did Williams, Keane and Holgate actually when Allardyce first came in. Jagielka in the first half of the season was an embarrassment, particularly Spurs away, Southampton away and Arsenal at home. His good games came towards the end of the season against the likes of Brighton and Stoke, so that’s all people remember.
