....but Jagielka is still captain.

How does that make sense?
Maybe, just maybe those who work with these players in the club every single day and rely on the performance of the players to pay their mortgage see that he is a very important piece of the jigsaw that makes a positive difference. Agree that Coleman should be captain but you cannot ignore the last four managers all seeing the benefit of him being club captain. But I am sure you will.

With the best will in the world how could that description be applied to Jagielka? He's at best bang average as a CB now; he's the worst captain we've ever had at the club in my experience; he's knocking on 40 years of age and we are a PL club with top 6 aspirations.

If he's getting games this season and retaining the armband then Silva is just the latest in a line of managers who cant swing the axe where it matters.

Good shout this by Silva, shouldn't really be news really, those 4 players are obviously not part of his plans so there's little point in them getting in the way of his tactical training with the players that are - sulky players need to be very far away from the actual playing players, especially the new ones that could be easily influenced.

It's funny how Koeman quickly distanced himself form the Martinez signings and now Silva is doing the same with his.

It's because he's a suckarse. Mr. Consistency - can always rely on him 'being a pro'. Won't rattle the cage.

But you can also rely on him not to be a winner. He's the symptom of a very long term illness at Everton - the attitude of just doing enough to get by; started by Phil "top ten is great for a club like Everton" Neville.

It has to end.

Never heard so much absolute wham being chatted by some. You’re the boss, go in and be the boss. About time. If players are upset and moaning because their big brother had been shown the door, then show then the door too. Earn your money or do one. Silva is the one who gets the sack if things don’t go well. Good on him

I think Marco would have done this the right way, Koeman and Sam always moaned that the squad was to large, it can have negative impact on the quality of training. And, although its not nice, its needed.

You guys wont be playing for us, please find another team, if you cant find a new team then you will be training with the Under 23. it helps push these guys out of the door.

And some on here have mentioned that they have friends in the squad and they wont be happy with the choice, these guys are professional, you cant cry because your friend doesn't train with you any more and if that is your attitude you can go too.

Vlasic is one of those Deulofeu type players who I want to believe could be class but has been pap more often than not. The rest is wholly justified IMO.

The numbers aren’t needed in first team training; it’s not like we’re struggling to get XI vs XI so why let players train with the first team when they’ve got no chance of playing? Could be taking up space in Silva’s eyeline that could be taken by a superior youth prospect.

I did the “trust in Koeman/Walsh” bit so not going to do the same again under this regime so this is not that, just a good decision IMO.

Its interesting some of the players not told to stay away, Lookman, Besic and Sandro.

The two former players looks strong for moves away, but maybe something has been seen in Sandro.

I have Paul McGrath's autobiography at home, which btw, is a fascinating read. I'm reminded of it today with this news. It's been almost a decade since I read it but I'm going to re-visit the section where Ferguson - King Ruthless himself - told him his Utd career was over. I have only hazy recall of it. Many thought it was the signal that Utd were finally being managed, once and for all, with deadly seriousness. Obviously McGrath had serious personal issues which are not on a par with a mere bad attitude - bottom line is this sort of thing either works out for the good or it doesn't. It's a risk and they accept the risk in taking the decision.

outstanding book, recommend it to anyone

It's hard to believe that Koeman saw enough in him in those 2 games against Split to go out and buy him, i mean he was ok but nothing more - a desperation buy if ever there was one.
I didn't even know who he was after we had played them. And at the time absolutely any player would have looked good against us.

He's also a bit of a strange one with his sister doing all his talking for him last season etc.

Loan him out and hope he gains some value to either come back stronger or sell next year.

If a grown ass man gets the hump because his mate is getting let go for being no good then they need to grow up fast and act professionally or get another job! No time for weaklings!

You talk some tosh. Swing the axe? He´s still our most reliable centre half.
We´re obviously doing our best to recruit a defender, but until we do, who would you have Silva replace him with?
