Isolated Players (Front Page Article)

I would guess they had already been told they are surplus to requirement and to get their agents on the case. This is just a kick up the arse so they take it seriously and have their agents looking for a new club, rather than thinking that they can hang around with the first team for another 12 months being a bit part player.
I agree mate good shout. Time to be ruthless

Only 4 could add a few more to that list, Schneirdlin Jags Baines, and I don't care that the last 2 have been good servants to the club, good servants like those won't do much to help us crash the top 6, it's about time we developed a ruthless streak, the best manager ever in the PL didn't hold onto good servants once they passed their sell by date, Beckham and Keane spring to mind.

Likes most of the others have said Vlasic surprises me a bit, the others are all surplus to requirements . I like Vlasic

If the reports that Williams and Mirallas are well down the road to loan moves are true, it may well turn out that Joyce's wording was a little bit out, and the reason the 4 of them aren't training with the first team is actually just because they're not going to be here come the weekend.

vlasic and martina playing by 2 touch against each other all day til they get shifted on

Why where is Mirallis going I havent heard anything on that score

While abysmal last season, he was very good in his first 6 months.

Yes you're right. He now needs to show some of that early form and hit the ground running from the off this season. Being off form for some considerable time is one thing....not breaking sweat is another and I don't think Silva will tolerate a half arsed player. Speaking purely personally, I cant stand any player taking the club for granted attitude wise regardless.

Banishing players from the first-team squad is a worrying development. It certainly doesn't strengthen the clubs hand in shifting players to other clubs, and getting fees for them.

Of course we are top heavy with numbers but in terms of morale this can't be seen as a good thing. Players will gossip and form cliques and we saw plenty of evidence last season and indeed so far in friendlies where it seems individual players and the group as a whole are not putting 100% in, with some exceptions.

I would imagine that Brands has approved that decision on Silva's recommendation so assume there are genuine and good reasons for it but it's not good, not good at all.

The legacy of destruction and chaos wrought by Koeman and Walsh in this respect is absolutely disgusting, for so-called professionals, and handsomely paid ones, at that. No accountability other than the sack, and we will spend the next few years dealing with the fallout.

No club would be stupid enough to fall for that (except us). Everyone knows who is and isn't wanted elsewhere and their value unless they have Steve Walsh as DoF. Everyone knows we are going to have to take a loss on these investments.

And it's often been said in recent years that this group of players needed a bit of discipline. Well now they are getting it. And they'll all be looking nervously over their shoulder at last because they won't want to be the next ones in line for U23 training.

If he won't tolerate half arsed players then surely he'd have drop kicked Schneirdlin into the Merseyside by now, the man is not even half arsed, he's more like a quarter arsed.

Maybe them four have been banished because of their reactions to being told to look for new clubs? I imagine that Besic and Bolasie will be moved on too, but maybe they have respected the managers decison more?

That's a sensible conculsion, the need to 'remove' players from the squad becomes completely irrelevant in the context of some of them being close to transfers.

I don't think Joyce is sensationalist, but perhaps he could have done with adding context ever so slightly here, it would be incredulous to think that someone as well connected as he is wouldn't be aware of any impending transfers for the players concerned. As it was he just stated what seems to have been a blunt fact, and added nothing.

I'd be quite happy to see all 4 of those players move on but I don't agree with them being outcast to the U23s. They may not be our first choice players any more but they were bought by previous managers for a reason, they have served their time in the first team and they deserve their place there even if they're not in the current managers future plans. They should be allowed to remain with the first team training until they are sold or loaned out.
