One thing I sincerely disagree is talking to the ref. No one talk to the ref unless told to. I'm more than happy to dish out cards to intervening captains.

Hopefully Jags is transitioning to a club captain role as a team representative to the public rather than on the pitch.
You sound like a terrible ref. You really don't let people speak unless spoken to first?

Vlasic and Cuco, i'm surprised by.

Williams won't train with us again if rumours are true, but Mirallas? Even that's odd, seems to have had a settled pre-season, even if we all hate him.

At least Marco has bottle.
I think it may have more to do with Silva establishing the squad that he will work with going forward rather than having issues with individuals.

In all honestly every winning team over the years our own included give the ref a bit of stick if decisions don't go there way . I not on about every player surrounding and screaming in the refs face that's a no no .But if your at the ref standing your ground about decisions you will get the next 50/50 going your way seen happen for years .But jags who has been a great player us very under rated is throu no fault of his own is not captain material.

Most reliable Everton centre back currently available?

That's like saying a certain sample of diarrhoea is the most solid for picking up.

Having said that, who would we replace him with? He has to stay for now, but we should be getting centre backs over the next few transfer windows to completely overhaul that area of the team as I fear the youngsters aren't anywhere close to giving me confidence that they will mature into capable Premier League standard defenders, let alone top 6 or Champions League quality.
We haven't had a decent CB since Dave Watson. We have been chronic in that area of recruitment since HK.

Genuinely not to argue, we know Ferguson was a terribly bad influence on younger players back then but do you have inside factual knowledge of Jags doing to same thing? I just don’t understand why every manager would continue to then make him the key man in the squad. That doesn’t make sense.
Scared to shift them out. There's a clique at Everton and Jagielka is at or near the centre of it.

If I was Silva the first thing I'd have done would have been to get Jagielka in the office and tell him he was no longer captain; second act would have been to tell him he was on the transfer list.

36 year old worse than bog standard PL player getting games for Everton - and "leading" them. There's just nothing that can be said to justify that.

What the hell is the job for a captain on the field besides throwing the coins?

Really cannot understand the "replace the captain" madness. Do the post of captain that important that he must be able to take on the field every game? I remember Garry Monk's last few seasons at the swans when he clearly is not playing for a slew of circumstances despite nominally captain.
Honestly?

Richard Gough was an excellent short term one. There have been a few decent ones since like Lescott, Yobo, Distin and Jags but no real class ones.
I never rated Gough. He was ok, but he had Richard Dunne doing the running. He lived too much on the reputation concerning him being an organiser.

We've had a few. Weir arguably, Gough certainly and Lescott. Wouldn't swap any if them for Watson. But I'm certain those are not without their critics. It's a very poor showing in such a critical area- no wonder we've never been able to challenge for honours since 95.

None of them ever top quality for me.

I really do not see the point in excluding and ostracizing people - what good does it achieve. Now if there had been incidents, that is different, but it seems rather petty. They are also surely useful as training opponents at the least?

If players are not putting 100% into training, then they need to be excluded. That follows from kids to any level. Last 2 weeks now. Time to be serious. No passengers.
