Current Affairs Irish Border and Brexit

In my case, from N Ireland, i voted out due to the fact that people I couldn’t vote for are making rules that affect me. I don’t trust the Euro gravy train and the subject of the Irish border is being used by whatever side to further their agenda. I’ve been used as a political football for so long I couldn’t give a brown smelly one. I’ll go with what suits me.

Like your local MEP who vote on and make amendments to laws / regulations on your behalf, or Westminster Cabinet Ministers who form the Council of Ministers who make laws on their own specific area of responsibility (Agriculture, Finance, Defense etc) and Prime Ministers/Heads of state etc who decide what direction the EU takes every 6 months.

Or do you mean the House of Lords ?

The House of Lords is a spinner thrown into the works by those with an adgenda. I don’t agree with the House of Lords, but they are OUR House of Lords
Local politicians voting on local problems is what I want. Not some faceless Eurocrats who aren’t responsible to anyone. Look at the countries not tied to Europe. They seem to be doing well

Previous reply didn’t go through. The House of Lords excuse is convenient for those with an adgenda I don’t agree with it myself but we are lumbered with it.
I object to people in an over large Union making decisions on a small part of it in which we, in NI, have a very small voice. The ‘poorer’ nations are benefitting to the detriment of the wealthier ones. Are they making adjustments to conform. Are they hell as like. Take off your blinkers. We are being taken for mugs. Other countries survive without the EU. We can as well

for a while there I wasn't sure if you were talking about the UK or the EU.

You do have a voice commensurate with the population of NI and the UK. The bit in bold is the very definition of a social democracy, I'd fundamentally disagree with your objection tbh. When the "poorer" nations achieve a somewhat level playing field they tend to start buying lots of products and services from the wealthier ones.

Oh man, I’ve had a few beers, I’m trying hard to resist the obvious gag here
You have your views Ruiri77, I have mine, that’s the benefit of democracy my friend. You are equating two different things, albeit obliquely, for your own adgenda. Carry on, I’ve had my say.

fair enough.
Stay, debate.
I just cant get my head around why anyone from Northern Ireland would turn down the option of both remaining in the UK and being part of the EU single market. This avoids any friction over the border and gives NI a financial position it both needs and deserves.

It's called identity politics.

I didn't realise you were new to Ireland lol
