Current Affairs Irish Border and Brexit

I don't bet but my informed knowledge is that major powers in EU MS are going to insist on this being sorted.

This is not going to be nice for anyone and I genuinely fear for my ordinary working UK brethren if this attitude continues.

At home, your democracy has been greatly weakened by your PM ignoring the elected Parliament and you have even less sympathy if that were possible amongst nearly 600 million European fellow citizens.

Spare a thought for those of us having this madness foisted upon us by a gullible electorate in awe of plummy voiced chancers.

At least the Scots and Irish have lifeboats to chart a way out of this mess and save themselves.

The English and Welsh are being forced to go down with the good ship Brexitannia :(

I sort of like Farage, but he can be a bit of pillock on occasions. He certainly threw in the towel far too early and easily in respect of a second vote......

Pete his comments for a second vote were said before the referendum when Farage thought he would lose. So it's a bit rich him now decrying those on the Remain side asking for a second referendum.

I think the difference is that Boris has said we are leaving, the EU have never believed we would, I don’t believe for one second that the EU are prepared for no deal, I do however believe that we will be ready, so the EU may actually need a delay.......

On what basis do you think the UK is ready but the EU is not? I've not seen anything to back that up so please help me out.

Will try again.....

It isn't any of your business why I voted leave.

I don't think there is a solution

Fair enough it's your business but you're on a discussion forum so kinda standard to back things up a bit!

Would anyone be bothered if we gave NI back to Ireland?

No one in England I have ever spoken to, that’s for sure.

And this is going to be the DUP’s harsh reality once the Tories have them off their back and have their own majority.

No way gammon in cash strapped Brexitannia are going to tolerate the subventions needed to prop NI up.

The DUP supporting Brexit is an even bigger own goal than auto workers in Sunderland supporting it.

Brexit has put NI and the cost if it, the hassle of it, the shame of the sectarian, discriminatory mess we let it fester in for over fifty years right into the public eye.

And very few in England can see any reason for England to hang on to it.

Aye up.

Interesting and indeed welcome news coming from Ireland that Michelle O’Neill might be ousted from her position as deputy leader of Sinn Fein.

She is to be challenged for the role by the very able, plain speaking Lurgan man John O’Dowd.

I have made my feelings on Ms. O’Neill very well known on this forum.

In my view she has been little short of a disaster for the cause of the Irish nationalist people in Ulster (6 of 9) during the Brexit crisis with her whiny, barely intelligible twaddle delivered in a far too rapid speaking voice.

I don’t think anyone could take her seriously in negotiations either with the EU, the Dublin government nor even the Johnson junta.

I have always said that the DUP leader Arlene Foster is equally vacuous but that she at least sounds authoritative when she speaks......and as we can see from the way she has pushed herself to the forefront of the Brexit madness, that particular talent can take you a very long way.

‘mon big John :)

I know Big John from Ard Mhacha Gaa circles and he is a good lad as well as being a very good public representative.

Unprecedented for SF to have an actual challenge to a sitting position but competition is always to be welcomed.

Unprecedented as you say, Army.

Makes me think there must be something going on behind the scenes.

I would agree with that Khal. I watched the game then the All-Ireland at my club today and this was definitely a talking point around the bar.

Something is in the offing but I would be happy with big John and Connor Murphy both getting a more public role.
