You wha?

You are not “supporting “ NI.

The vast majority of people there and every business organisation and the trade unions support the Backstop deal.

You are only “supporting” the DUP....a party you claim to have “no truck with”.

And they only represent themselves.....not Northern Ireland as a whole or even the majority of it.

Stop burying your head in the sand.

You are buying into a fiction.

So the biggest party in NI doesn’t actually represent anyone, is that what you are saying......

Surely not.....I thought you loved us.....

You confuse Irish frustration with some British folks condescension and ignorance with hate. You opened that can of worms by saying Britain does not care and said we simply broke away. hence you got what 8 ot 9 people call you out.

The Irish don't have problems with England nor any part of the UK.

Given that all of us are on an Everton forum i thought that would have been clear.

Many of us have lived or worked in the UK too and have spent leisure time there.

Don't confuse annoyance of your attitude to hate.

Otherwise report me or any other Irish person who is "hating" you or any other Britain on here.[/QUOTE]

Why would I report you, it’s just a debate.....one you are not very good at, but still just a debate.....

Dear God. Do you have a brain. Yes Brexit started it. But who gives a crap whether the ROI trusts the U.K, certainly the EU don’t, and it doesn’t even register with the U.K. The ROI will be put back in their box by the EU or the ROI will be bankrupt due to no deal. Whatever sympathy you had from either the U.K. or the EU is disappearing at a rate of knots as the big money and politics comes into play. No one at the top gives a crap about a pain in the arse country the same size as south London.......Varadkar overplayed his hand and the EU know it......

Really? All very unfriendly. It's also false I suppose this one of those situations why the Irish have those the Brits are at it again memes (quite a few involving the Simpsons).

I'm always surprised though; on one hand you have all those right wing media writing about the anti-British sentiment on the continent (like today in the Dailymail - admittedly they had to go and find the chief editor of the horrible Bild 'paper' to write it) and on the other hand you'll seemingly close trade deals in an easy fashion. The second thing I want to see: not only because it's a hell of a legal undertaking; also because colonialism and imperialism is still very much connected to the U.K. brand (the institutions not the people to be clear).

You keep looking for someone to blame instead of a solution. Fine, enjoy......

But isn't that the preferred manner of expression for a lot of the Brexiteers (not all). They just want to win; they don't want to change minds/ make compromises. Somebody makes a statement and they respond with a non sequitur or another fallacy (like a slippery slope etc...). So for a non sequitur it's basically a statement that is true but has little connection to the statement they are responding to. Blame someone else/divert attention to another country... Makes everything quite difficult to negotiate.

It’s not about winning. That has already happened. Now it’s about how to make it good for all of us. This is the bit that the EU and Remainers don’t get......

The thing is you see, back then things were a bit different to what they are now. Secondly I have never been a squaddie, thirdly Education is all about quality, levels, depth and breadth, yours don’t even come close......if you wish to insult me at least try something where you are on more stable ground....but good luck with that.....
Things were different then, so that makes it okay? Laughable. Secondly, the only people that I have ever heard talk about Northern Ireland with such breathtaking ignorance, apart from you, are squaddies. I apologise to all squaddies for equating them with you. You need to stop trying to wind people up and read up upon the subjects you are pronouncing on before whining about education. You know nothing about Ireland, and this thread has proved it.

Of course it was different, just like the occupation of Britain by the Romans was different. It was you who mentioned Education not me, I just responded. The only thing this thread has proven is that some haven’t moved on, either from some bygone age of British Empire or from some ingrained inferiority complex. Let it go, join today’s world, it’s quite good....

The absolute irony of someone who has voted for the sepia tinted days of Empire to return, to advise anybody to join today's world, is immense. Are you Joey's brother?

I haven’t voted for Empire to return. I just want my country to be free to pursue what it wishes to do without agreeing it with 27 others. The irony is that a country that wanted Independence a hundred years ago is now just a part of a different Empire.......

Pathetic response. Ireland is an independent country, as are the other 26 member countries of the EU. Britain makes it's own laws in Parliament. In fact, name me five laws that the EU has imposed on Britain. Thank you in advance.
