So you’ve been prevented from saying the word man ? It looks there like in the Eu parliament they’ve been encouraged to use gender neutral words . How does that effect me in Liverpool or more applicable you in Dubai ?

Ever heard of suppression of freedom of speech. Nativity play now not allowed to have 3 wise men?

You are trying to defend the indefendable - or is it maybe a touch of Stockholm Syndrome?

My solution as it happens is the very same as initially agreed by May- Brexit to happen as planned but NI to remain within the customs union due to our unique circumstances.

In those circumstances the border remains invisible, Unionists here get to enjoy Brexit, Nationalists can point to their Dublin alliance and then we can all work to shape our constitutional future.

This way also respects both the NI and the U.K. voting preferences re Brexit.

Your 'solution' certainly solves the problem of the NIreland/Ireland border but replaces it with a far bigger problem - namely a border right down the Irish Sea, between N Ireland and the rest of the UK. Whilst that might be very attractive to certain elements, it is most unacceptable to most in N Ireland, the DUP in particular (upon whom May relies on to cling to power) and he vast majority of the rest of UK.

It also causes problems with WTO as Ireland would be regarded by WTO as MFN.

Absolute non starter.

Really ? You’ll be telling me next that Christmas decorations are banned and people can’t fly the cross of st George . No Stockholm syndrome but what the Eu parliament ‘encourage’ not order the mep’s to say has zero impact on me although I heard chairperson used years ago but also heard chairman numerous times since .

What I am telling you is that everything has to be gender neutral in EU speaktalk and that, my friend, is suppression of free speech - not to mention, raving mad.

May agreed to it, clearly thought it was the way forward.

Beyond Ireland remaining in the customs union I do not see a way out of this for the U.K. due to their commitments and responsibilities enshrined in the Good Friday Agreement. May recognised this as well.

You know the difference between encouraging and restricting yeah ? Asking people to use gender neutral terms isn’t the same as restricting free speech , that’s raving mad to compare the two . You’ve basically said you want out the EU because they’re encouraging MEP’s to use gender neutral terms and you think that’s a valid reason . Anyway this is the Irish border thread .

Look forward to your posts in the other Everton threads .

Re your point above regarding the vast majority of the U.K. being against NI remaining in the customs union, I really don’t see that as being a real concern for many at all.

NI wasn’t even an afterthought for many leave voters and that is what has seen the U.K. sleepwalk into their current position.

Keep in mind farage , banks and various vote leave luminaries were spouting about the whole of the U.K. remaining in the customs union not too long ago , before all this meaningless Brexit means Brexit nonsense.

The utter irony of you throwing freedom, independence and sovereignty at us reasons for supporting a no deal Brexit is not lost on us when you have spent the last 100 years denying us exactly those things by ignoring the democratic will of the people as expressed in a General Election.

Spot on, Mark lol

@RichardP is well out of his depth trying to argue the intricacies of the English imposed border in Ireland with native Irish people or those of us with Irish blood coursing through our veins.

But he both excelled himself and cut the ground from under his own argument there....using the “freedom, independence and sovereignty” argument.
I imagined him reading that back to himself in a William Wallace off Braveheart voice

And to think....the only thing standing in the way off his Brexit wet dream of “freedom etc” is the fact the English refused to give that exact same thing to Ireland a century ago.

You couldn’t make it up :pint2:

It is also just plain wrong.....the “vast majority of the UK”, be they Brexiteers or Remainers, could not give one darned stuff about NI remaining in the Customs Union if it suited their cause and in fact, given a Referendum in England, I would say near enough 90% would vote to jettison the province :)

You really didn't read the posts properly did you. I happily acknowledged the case of both Scotland and N Ireland and, for the record, it goes back a lot more than the 100 years that was quoted, in both cases.

It's a shame that you hit the Send button before properly reading what you are responding to, but not really surprising.

The phrase 'spring loaded to the offended position' would appear to best describe your debating position.

Well, you are, of course, entitled to your opinion but let's see who swims and who sinks later this year shall we!

Haha!! Ah yes the generic response of someone who can't accept they are wrong and have no rebuttle or retort.

Sink or swim what are you even on about?

Having read the rest of the nonsense argument posts you are trying to put forth its clear you are full of it and have no clue

I’m sure he’s just awaiting your very own pearls of wisdom......
