And with the EU also. This is not a one way street where only the U.K. would be affected. So how would the EU and ROI deal with it ? At the moment the EU and Varadkar always take the political and negotiating view that the ball is in the U.K. court, it’s not, it’s balanced on the net.....

Sorry mate, don’t understand that.

The UK caused Brexit so it has been up to you to come up with solutions to resolve the problems it has created. It's quite laughable that you criticise Varadkar for defending Irish interests when it his duty and responsibility to do just that, in the same way as it is May's duty to defend the UK's position. That he has secured the backing of the EU seems to have caused considerable irritation among arch Brexiteers like yourself who claimed that the EU would withdraw their support for the Irish position when it came to the crunch.

There is no point on continuing to speculate on the question of a hard border, as that eventuality is now unlikely to happen unless the naysaysers in the UK reject the compromise. On this side of the Irish Sea we're hoping and praying that that won't happen.

You caused it so you must come up with solutions to resolve it. Germany caused WW2, but I don’t remember anyone suggesting that they had to come up with the solution for it........We, all of us, UK, ROI, EU have a problem, and we, all of us, need to find an answer......

Not sure if you're trying to be ironic in quoting WW2 again but, immediately after the war Germany was smashed to pieces. It had no government, mass infrastructure of social order to do anything. The Allies were the total victors so did whatever they wanted. How is that remotely comparable to Brexit?!?!

The UK mistakenly voted for Brexit. I say mistakenly here in context of the Irish border which almost all Brexiteers overlooked prior to the vote.

So yes I think it's very fair for the EU and Ireland to expect the UK to come up with a workable solution!

Oh come on, surely you are not going down the @joey1945 route of making WW2 analogies which have no relation to Brexit. That's pretty poor stuff from you.

Anyway we have an answer which was decided upon last week. Hopefully the UK sees sense and agrees to it.

David Cameron's 2016 mentions war in the Remain campaign...any thoughts on that?.......

I think the U.K. will see sense and throw out Mays Brexit ‘deal’...

A workable solution that is immediately rejected you mean. It really doesn’t matter what the U.K. comes up with, the EU will reject it because they know it keeps us on the hook.....

You are correct that it's not a one way street, because clearly the ROI would be affected as well as NI. However, to say it's balanced on the net in terms of who needs to find a solution... that's a very selfish way of looking at it. It was the UK Government (Cameron's Tories) who started this by putting the decision to the people, and the 17.4m then gave the new Tory Government a huge problem in that they now had to act upon the vote.

We (the UK) have created this problem of how trade and movement of people will work post-Brexit, and therefore the onus is on us to come up with solutions. Now of course the EU and ROI can't just ignore it or not be willing to try and assist in coming up with a solution, but we have an obligation to be the ones that come up with the appropriate solutions, not them. It is our idea and our vision.

This x 100. It is so obvious. The EU dream would flounder withoutuk financial input. We voted leave. Why do the EU want to keep us in?
