Excuse me did David Cameron in his Remain campain prjise the EU avoiding further wars which is far from the truth as we have NATO.......
Jaw-jaw is better than war-war. Its a shame you can't appreciate that in the years since WW2 co-operation between its former combatants has been the most important factor in maintaining peace in Europe, instead preferring to believe that it's as a result of a military alliance of western powers against the East.

As you've shown in the last few pages, you along with others are stuck in a WW2 mindset where you still believe those nasty Germans are trying to take you over. The world has moved on since then and it's about time you did too. The past isn't coming back. If you don't wise up to the present situation the UK will become more isolated in the world.

Full quote

“I think in a no-deal scenario it would be very difficult to avoid a hard border because of the obvious fact that, Ireland remaining part of the European Union, would no doubt be asked to implement European Union law,” Varadkar told reporters in Dublin.

“So those hard Brexiteers who say that just through good political will you could avoid a hard border, that doesn’t make sense,” Varadkar said.

“Are they really saying they would join the World Trade Organisation and the first thing they would do is to refuse to implement World Trade Organisation rules?”

So the quote was correct. Varadkar is saying that the EU will not allow free movement and is also trying to hide behind WTO rules which incidentally have no mention of people moving over borders. Duplicitous....

lol @ pete squirming on the end of a hook he himself cast.

Not true. Tanaiste Simon Coveney today:

"We have made it very clear that there is no eventuality where Ireland will prepare for border infrastructure between the two jurisdictions on our island."

And that is even though provisions are still being made for a no deal Brexit just in case it happens.

So I'm afraid you are incorrect there, a bit like your prediction that Ireland would eventually be shafted by the EU when it came to the crunch in the negotiations. Barnier kept to his word and backed our position all the way. Then when Teresa May realised that there was going to be no climbing down from the EU/Ireland on this crucial matter she agreed to the backstop. There was no other way.

And yet Varadkar has said that EU law must prevail and even used WTO rules. So how does that line up with “there is no eventuality will prepare for a border etc”. There is an eventuality, it’s called no deal. So as the U.K. has said it will not put up a border, what will the ROI do, follow EU law and WTO rules ?......

I think it depends on your interpretation.

What i take from the quote is that ROI will implement European law by being part of the free market and open borders, while the UK will conform to WTO rules and will have to implement a closed border to conform.

I dont see the EU imposing a hard border on the ROI to implement due to the Irish constitution, i dont see a ROI government ever putting a hard border up on the island, its political suicide and could see a constitutional crisis.

Indeed, but WTO only refers to trade not people and the EU and ROI can’t just play it their way. The U.K. will not put up a border, it’s written into law, it therefore follows that the only one who can is the ROI/EU, which is what I said in the first place......
