What he says, pete.

Blame London, not Brussels.

Blame Lloyd George, not Barnier.

Blame Chelsea, not the RS.

That wasn’t what I asked you. You turned a serious quote into some form of flippant joke, and I asked you to post what you believed was the actual quote, which you haven’t done....

lol

Always the sign a fellow realises his argument has been comprehensively debunked :)

In what way. Please demonstrate exactly how my argument or posts have been comprehensively debunked. In fact just demonstrate a single post of yours that actually adds anything to this debate.....

I see Varadkar is saying “In a no deal scenario it would be very difficult to avoid a hard border because of the obvious fact that, as Ireland remaining part of the European union, we would no doubt be asked to implement European law.”

So it will be theEU and the ROI putting in the hard border, as we’ve always said they would......
Not true. Tanaiste Simon Coveney today:

"We have made it very clear that there is no eventuality where Ireland will prepare for border infrastructure between the two jurisdictions on our island."

And that is even though provisions are still being made for a no deal Brexit just in case it happens.

So I'm afraid you are incorrect there, a bit like your prediction that Ireland would eventually be shafted by the EU when it came to the crunch in the negotiations. Barnier kept to his word and backed our position all the way. Then when Teresa May realised that there was going to be no climbing down from the EU/Ireland on this crucial matter she agreed to the backstop. There was no other way.

Excellent, so if we have a no deal Brexit, there will be no hard border. I’m pleased....

Woman on radio 5 rambling about islands in the Caribbean with no border , technology and about how much we buy online when asked about the Irish border . When pressed she said I’m not a politician but it’s the EU creating this , the politicians can sort it out .This genuinely is the level of debate to a serious problem. Nobody can answer it and yet they all seem to think it can be dismissed as an irrelevance.

On Question Time last night they were discussing what might happen in the event of a No Deal Brexit.

A middle aged man in the audience gave his informed analysis......”during the War our ships had to face German U-Boats in the Atlantic to bring in supplies....I am sure we can handle a No Deal”.

This is the type of nonsense which has landed us in this mess.

Full quote

“I think in a no-deal scenario it would be very difficult to avoid a hard border because of the obvious fact that, Ireland remaining part of the European Union, would no doubt be asked to implement European Union law,” Varadkar told reporters in Dublin.

“So those hard Brexiteers who say that just through good political will you could avoid a hard border, that doesn’t make sense,” Varadkar said.

“Are they really saying they would join the World Trade Organisation and the first thing they would do is to refuse to implement World Trade Organisation rules?”

There you are, pete.

What Mr.Varadkar said in full.

Quite different to the interpretation you tried putting on it using selective editing.

Thank you, Neiler :)

What he stated was true not nonsense......many people died so your flippant remarks are way off the radar - if you are saying he is wrong to mention it - well it's true......
Thus country did have its back to the wall in that era - fact

I think comparing this self imposed, utterly avoidable, and frankly moronic situation we might face with how we coped during WW2, is ridiculous Joey.

At least we had some allies back then.

Joe.....wise up.

Or go to bed.

:pint2:

My grandad was killed by those submarines so I think is very “flippant” of some arl bugger to compare his sacrifice to Rees-Mogg’s Elizabethan idyll on a TV show.
