Businesses seem to like the deal , but the fact that we cannot leave as you stated till the end of never-It is a nail in Mays premiership imo it is not a one foot in or one foot out deal it costing 50 billion plus, and they dictate when we leave on the 12th of never what pathetic negotiation is that?........
Brexit is the most spectacular own goal in British history because now you have the worst of both worlds. You should have stayed in. From an Irish perspective our future feels a little more secure although that may not last for very long.

At least May deserves a bit of credit for agreeing to the backstop - there was no other way out of the deadlock. When she said tonight that the deal was the "best for the entire UK", it was because the penny has finally dropped with her that the alternative 'no deal' scenario would eventually result in the break up of the UK. It still might if the deal is rejected at Westminster.

Edit: forgot to tag you @Joey66. Sorry for any offence caused.

No need for the tag as you answered my post ...?.. you should know a tag is not needed ......as your quote to my post is alerted.....
We needed a deal but not an open ended one in the listing why was Gilbrata told it had just to be sorted out with Spain the EU weaponised Ireland sadly to their own ends imo to screw the whole deal, lengthing it - using the border yet both North and South have different tax and VAT rates over the border now I tend to disagree that yes there was a problem , but not unsolvable now it's ifinate on the whole Brexit deal .....
Scotland are now whinging they are not in the single market.....
The EU have behaved disgusting with the divorce payment and screwing us for infinite subscriptions- May should have been got rid of after the last GE - end of...
She will go this week after two years of letting the UK get shafted financially and future business being tied indefinitely to the EU.......as we have not even left the EU ....

The fact of the establishment of the border in Ireland nearly 100 years ago is the root of all this. Ireland has always been the stone in Britain's shoe, and various Prime Ministers have banished troublesome Ministers to the Northern Ireland Office, such has been their contempt for that part of the U.K. Northern Ireland is not like any other part of the U.K, voting largely on sectarian lines, making it totally different to any other part of this country. It is one of England's last colonial problems to be resolved. Furthermore, the people of Great Britain are, in the main, not interested in the slightest about the Province. People like Sammy Wilson and Jeffrey Donaldson, who have been wheeled out in the last few days, present a very negative image of Brexiteers in Northern Ireland. I think it is time to put the horse before the cart and begin proper talks to finally resolve the Irish question, which was kicked down the road again yesterday by Theresa May. The people of Ireland desire unity, the money that we pour into the North could be re-directed into Britain, we could make proper deals with the likes of the EU without having the likes of Arlene Foster going on and holding us back, and we could then establish proper relations with the government and people of Ireland. As I say, once we resolve the Irish problem, we can go forward as a country.

It won't happen, but that would be my solution re Brexit!

It's hilarious that Raab resigned this morning because of NI's position in the backstop, yet seems oblivious to the fact that if there is no deal it would likely lead to the break up of the UK. He and others are cutting off their noses to spite their faces.

The ship is sinking the only thing left is to salvage political collateral and gear up for an election. No way is this deal getting through the English Dail in my opinion.

Be interesting to see what happens with the DUP mandate whether it will increase or decrease big quetions for the Unionist vote in the North, if they are out of government the backstop will be agreed in a week.

Hey we might even see a return to government in Northern Ireland, remember that.

It’s all wheels within wheels mate. They are all vying for the leadership, but the one after the next one, who will be cleaning up this mess. There’s no Tory politician who seems capable though. Truly a bad time for British politics.

Its quite amazing, Brexit has led to tiers of states-people just being wiped out. When Cameron went you go to a tier below, when May gets wiped out, same thing again, all the time the caliber gets lower and people get power who under different circumstances never would, thus even if there is an election its unlikely things will get any better for the UK then whats on the table. Perhaps its one of those occasions were you have to take your medicine and deal with the symptoms. similar to when Ireland went belly up in the economic meltdown.

Maybe Corbyn could make a fist of it, or gerrymander another referendum on then nature of the brexit deal as opposed to the binary one of in and out.

I can't for the life of me understand a word of this so hopefully you'll forgive me for not replying.

And they miss the whole point.....spectacularly.

They think the Backstop is going to be a threat to the “constitutional integrity of the United Kingdom” and that the EU is putting their “precious union” in peril.

When the reality is, the threat to said “constitutional integrity” etc. is currently being swaddled in the Royal Hospital in Belfast and the Altnagelvin in Derry.......and in the schools of Crossmaglen, Cookstown and up the Falls Road,

The threat is in the electoral map of Ulster.....where every seat along that accursed border has returned a Sinn Fein member.

As @Armaghtoffee pointed out previously, the province’s birth rate and voting patterns are moving it inexorably toward leaving the UK anyway.

Add to that the not insignificant number of small “u” unionists who realise this deal on offer to Ulster is more beneficial to their prosperity than the absolute shambles Great Britain is headed for and I would not be surprised if a Border Poll tomorrow afternoon produced a unification majority....if for no better reason than the EU link is now of greater import than the UK one.

The 2/3rds of a province you mean but yes that's the way its going. Any sensible unionist would cash in now and support it as it gives NI the best of both worlds. But their 'not an inch' policy means that like the arch Brexiteers they are also cutting off their noses to spite their faces in the medium to long term.

Corbyn won't have protecting 'tax havens' or aligning standards with the USA as his core bastions though, so negotiations would have different priorities/outcomes.

I think the DUP are going to come under a lot of pressure from their own grassroots to not vote this deal down.

The Ulster Farmers Union, an organisation which includes many members whom are amongst DUP’s most loyal followers, has come out solidly behind May’s deal and urged the party not to reject it.

Hard to see how DUP members in rural constituencies can just dismiss these calls.

The only other NI MP whom attends Westminster, Independent Sylvia Hermon, has also come out and all but pledged her support to May.....saying that she could never see herself on the “same page as Sammy Tache and Rees-Mogg” lol
