Howard or Robles in Goal against Arsenal in FA Cup

He's playing the right keeper in the league and the right keeper in the cups.

Right player in the cups based on what?

You do realise it's essentially the same game, right? A cup game is still played on grass with a ball. The right keeper for the league is the better keeper, who should therefore be starting in the biggest and one of the most difficult fixtures of our season, when we are within touching distance of Wembley.

Based on we've won all the cup games with relative ease and he's been a big part of that.

Meanwhile Howard has made a fair few mistakes in the league and it's debatable whether he's really much better than Robles. He's prone to mistakes and poor in the air, his distribution is better than Robles' but neither excels in that department. Robles will not face a bigger test at Arsenal than he did against City at Wembley a year ago, and he was exemplary under that pressure.

It's like Martinez is playing Paul Gerrard over Manuel Neuer or something.

Do you think we would have been knocked out by now had we played Howard instead of Robles? Because I certainly don't.

The fact that he has played in the games so far is not a reason as to why he should be playing. He shouldn't be playing because he is currently not as good as Tim Howard. He's a much better (imo) and more experienced 'keeper, which the stat's this season back up. He's one of the finest 'keepers in the league. You seem to be under the impression that Robles is faultless, I'm sure if he had played the number of games Howard has - he would have several [Poor language removed] up's too. That's the nature of that position.

It's a really really easy decision, or at least it should be.

No, and i also don't think we'd have won even more cup games with Howard starting.

So aside from the 'we play the 2nd choice keeper coz that's what we do' line of thinking, why exctly would you want to start Robles?

You said yourself that Howard is the right keeper for the league, which must surely mean the better keeper overall. With the better player in goal we have a greater chance obviously, so why lessen our chances even slightly?

You're going to proper fume when Robles starts, it's going to be ace.

What an odd post.

I won't fume at all, I'll be disappointed we've reduced our chances of getting to an FA cup semi-final of course. But I'd expect most people would be in the same boat.

You could always answer the questions too, like.

You're going to fume big time.

I don't see the point in answering your questions tbh, you're wrong but refuse to see it so it's a bit circular.

Robles does have pedigree though in the FA cup of course with Wigan; was excellent in the final against City but completely agree with the fact that it should be Howard but will be Robles. This is the biggest game we've had since we were in the same position last year against Wigan but we need to focus upon the upcoming games; gain some momentum from victories, get lukaku scoring before we then move onto stuffing the gooners! Big month this

Nah i've just realised you fail to see reason. Martinez knows whats best.

Haha, what reason would that be? You haven't put up a half decent case for why Robles should actually be starting such a huge game.

Haha, I'm wrong about Howard being the better keeper and that not starting him is detrimental to our chances. Haha.

Yep Roberto does know best, which is thankfully why Howard is our number 1. Just a shame he is so loyal to the understudy and has his policy of playing him in the cups.

I have though, hence people agreeing and repping my posts.

Nah, you've come out with a load of waffle about Howard making several mistakes and saying Robles has done well in the cup games this season (against top sides - QPR, Stevenage and Swansea). Both of which are ridiculous, really.

Anyway, skimming through it seems that the majority would be in favour of Howard in goal. Thank God.
