Does anyone know when the supposed FA investigation is? According to the Daily Mail and Mirror, the referee has said he heard no racist comment, but how do they know this if no investigation has yet been done by the FA?With the amount of kopite loving journalists these papers have got its hardly surprising,i havent noticed one single paper who have come out in support of mason yet

He believes it did. His reaction on the field means that he definitely believed it happened. He didn't react to 90% of what Firmino was ranting at him, then reacted strongly to one word at the end.

Even if he misheard (which is unlikely in my view), then he still reasonably believed it was said. He hasn't made a 'false accusation'.
 
Does anyone know if the refs microphone gets recorded ? I know there was talk of doing this a couple of years ago, but I can't find anything definitive one way or the other.

So if it'd been a league game there's every chance it'd have been caught on a recording, but not on cup games.
Bloody typical.

Basically it's likely going to be one persons word against another, so, unless someone else heard it, there's no way the FA can find Firmino guilty.

Aye mate, not sure how certain the poster was tbh.

Perhaps Kenny might have heard what was said and Lallana. I think it will boil down to a couple of things WB

1. Camera angle we haven't seen showing it
2. Kenny heard it as well or the ref says he heard something but wasn' it sure what it was.

Does this go for all lama's pathetic dive as well? I'm sure that idiotic rule is only for the league as well.

Is noticed they've been trialling with VAR in the last few days, when did that get brought in? Just for televised cup games?
 
No one seems to have any proof of anything.

People saying Holgate has no motive to lie are wrong. The motive was to detract from him pushing a playing in to the advertising boards, so he didn't get sent off.

I don't know what happened, along with 99% of people, but without any evidence the FA should not punish either player.

Football players, lie and dive all the time. Most of the stuff on this thread is conjecture.

What should happen it that Lallana should get a ban for diving. Niasse got banned for it, which was fair, so why isn't he?

You’ve swallowed the kopite conspiracy hook, line & sinker there mate.

Saying Holgate thought in that split second that physically grabbing the referee to shout an accusation about another player and that it would actually get him out of a red rather than increase the punishment is quite frankly preposterous.

It's not really.

Assuming a player, from a team you support, has to have been racially abused, to push a player in to advertising boards is naive.

Doesn't mean it didn't happen but no lip readers have backed it up. Even if it did happen, and I'm not saying it didn't, there's no proof and without proof you should assume innocence.
 
Ronaldo would have said he never dived, Suarez would have said he never bit anyone.

Football players lie all the time. I'm not saying Mason did, I'm just saying with out any evidence backing up what he said, it's wrong to punish either player.
