Current Affairs Her majesty the Queen

While most Americans have loads of respect for the Queen, and many have expressed their sympathy for her death, it feels very cultist to most Americans with the path the Brits are taking with this. We mock the North Koreans for their love for their leader yet we are seeing things like closing down football, TV channels, comedy programmes, parliament all because of the death of 1 person and this will never make sense for any Americans. No human should receive this much love unless its the second coming of Jesus.
Barring the last sentence, I agree totally with this.

Who was your favourite power ranger, mate?

Getting bored of all this crap already.

Old woman died. Never worked. Meh.

Charles the muppet is now King. Hilarious.

End of an era for sure. Hopefully.
Never worked - she gave her whole life to public service. I think (it used to be from a few years ago) the cost of the royal family compared to the income from the royal estate (mainly from tourism) was far less value to UK. She made more money for this country in this respect than you and I will probably ever do.

What she is not pointing out or willing to admit is that slavery was a cultural norm in African communities, that the Asante culture were fundamental in this and that there is every chance that her ancestors were ccaught and sold into slavery by fellow Africans. It all well and good saying that she wants the queen to die in excrutiating pain becuase her ancestors fell victim to slavery but if she is going to be selective about a subject, and as a supposed academic, then she is better off not talking about it, IMO.

Well it was a cultural practice of some African's, but the market for doing so was greatly enhanced by westerners, such as the monarchy of this country and the ancentry of the Queen. As far as I'm aware, no reparations have ever been paid to those victims from the ill gotten gains, mde off the back of enormous suffering and oppression.

I don't necessarily agree with her, but she's certainly entitled to her view as it's not ahistorical. There is a question mark as to whether it is the right time to share such a view. In situations like this, I always think it's best to leave people to their own devices/opinions. It's not doing anyone any harm, and I'm really unsure the position to a black American should be they're not entitled to feel anger towards people who financially gained from the human misery their ancestors needlessly went through.
