As I understood it she was born in Nigeria and was talking about the genocide that happened there in the 60s during the Wilson government.

If that was the case then that would surely be on the shoulders of voting age people of the UK for bringing Wilson into power, not the queen.

But for slavery influence upon her view of the white western world.

During the time period in question, the monarchy retained a substantial amount of power. Point being, while the present officeholder may have clean hands, slavery did contribute to the present wealth and influence of both institutions.
Yes, and slavery was a cultural norm in Africa thus the chiefs adding people to offerings presented to early traders. And with regards to the wealth and benefit accumulated by such an abhorent trade then you are also benefitting from it. You want to point at people, point at everyone, including yourself and Africa. It should never of happened but it needs to be understood.

The government at the time was referred to as “Her majesty’s government”.

Given such an emotive subject as thousands of kids dying and being in a different country I’d think that the exact boundaries of responsibility would be fairly easy to blur.

Mmm...no. My ancestors were farmers in a free state and Irish immigrants during the Famine. If you want to say that what I have was influenced by, say, redlining, there's an argument. It's not a great one, since I'm not descended from slumlords like Trump and his son-in-law, but there's an argument there.

Can’t gauge the worldwide sentiments towards the royal family but I do know they are very popular in Asia, especially former colonies like Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore. The pain is felt in these faraway land. So no, they won’t see UK as a mad nation and embarrassing bootlickers.
The embarrassing bootlicker ones won't

It was due to be a pretty big thing for the Isle of Wight economy as they were hosting the final stage.
Indeed, many small businesses will suffer this weekend in already horrific times for enforced mourning, uncompensated for stock bought or other outgoings. Not to mention the athletes who have trained their balls off (and already bought their blood transfusions)

I suppose that she may not fully understand that the Queen was not in charge and may have been confused by the title her majesty's gov but would say that as someone holding an academic position she should take an evidenced based approach as opposed to one of emotive personal bias - well in public at least.

I think her problem is she has gone to in depth on the subject.

If she just says I don't care about the monarchy or the queen because I am black and from a former colony than that's really enough for me to think "yeah, understandable".

I was pointing to the quality that you enjoy in the place that you live - if you are in the west.
