Transfer Rumour Hayden Hackney

Well it’s not “whatever I say”, is it? I’ve not said anything - I’m merely pointing out data that suggests he’s very good for his age across Europe.

I know you’ve gone super early on the “he’s crap” train but you can’t get off it now so sit there and let it all unfold you tiny child.

Under the radar insult this, fantastic.

Villa got relegated with Gueye playing. We’ve been in relegation battles from the moment he arrived. PSG did nothing in the CL with him in the team.

Maybe his stats for getting the ball back wouldn’t be so good if he didn’t keep losing it so often.

The day the club, and some of its fans, move away from cleaving to these utter failures like Keane Gueye McNeil is the day we might finally get back to moving forward.

Gueye was finished the day Coutinho waltzed round him at Anfield like he wasn’t even there. That was 8 years ago. See his first half of the Anfield derby this season.

If ‘peak Gueye’ is the bar for our PL midfielders then it’s an extremely low bar. I put his signing for PSG alongside Gravesen ending up at Real Madrid, Chupo Moting playing for Bayern and PSG, and Juliet Faubert going from stinking out West Ham to Real Madrid.

Sure you said we hadn’t been in a relegation battle since 2023 multiple times?

People are allowed different opinions. I just don’t rate him, never have really, I know a lot of people think differently. I’ve always thought he just chases the ball, can’t keep it, makes errors in big games, plays sideways, misses simple chances, vacates key areas of the pitch. He dropped out the PSG team and it’s not like we beat out anyone good to get him back. He’s generally been the same most of his time with us in my opinion. I actually think he’s been better at times since he’s been back than before. I wasn’t sorry to see him go to PSG, I won’t be sorry once he leaves again. He’s been in the engine rooms of a lot of bad midfields that haven’t worked, can’t keep the ball, can’t find a forward pass, wilt under pressure, don’t score goals, allow opposition teams to walk through them. Not all his fault of course but if he was as good as people make him out to be we wouldn’t have been so terrible.

Gueye Barry Barkley - passable at times
Gueye Schneiderlin Siggurdson - awful
Gueye Klaasen Schneiderlin - awful
Gueye Rooney Davies - awful
Gueye Gomes Siggurdson - barely passable at times
Gueye Garner Doucoure - awful
Gueye Garner McNeil - awful
Gueye Onana Doucoure - awful
Gueye Garner KDH - barely passable at times

He’s been in one decent midfield since he’s been here with two players (Barry Barkley) who were already proven at Everton with other players. Every other midfield he’s been in has been absolutely turgid. Not solely his fault, but he’s definitely been sort of the problem.
If you played prime Patrick Vieira with Tom Davies, Schneiderlin, Klaasen, Doucoure, Sigurdsson, McNeil or knackered Rooney as their midfield partners in the premier league it would still be a terrible midfield

PSG bought him at 30 years old with a year left on his contract for £30m where he played 74 times over three seasons in a squad that had Paredes, Herrera, Veratti, Kamara, Sarabia so yeah he was very good for many years

I don’t want him starting games for us next season (wouldn’t mind him around for depth and cup games maybe) but to say he wasn’t a very good player and use the fact he lined up alongside crap is just wrong

Think we’ve dithered for too long - Hackney was keen on the move but now other clubs have moved we will likely miss out.

Taxi for Moyes and Kinnear.
Don't think this is *really* true, there wouldn't have been enough time to get it done in a couple of days before these other clubs entered the picture

Liverpool and United don't make a lot of sense for him as he won't play there enough, but Brighton would be a problem for us

Remember when you thought Besic was better than him?
