Didn't our form go off a cliff once he was injured though...No top team in the PL starts a 36 year old in midfield every game. He’ll be 37 next season. There’s a reason for that.
He’s had good games for us for sure but also plenty of terrible ones. Some fans revere him though and get angry when you suggest the team might be better if we moved on from him. He’s finished in the next year or two (at best) no matter how much some people like him, time isnt going to wait. We need to be moving on from him now and should have really done it last summer. Would we be worse off than 13th if Rohl Alcaraz Iroegbunam or Armstrong had the minutes Gueye has had? I don’t think so.

……he shouldn’t get assurances about first team football and he shouldn’t want assurances about first team football. I’d be sure Moyes wouldn’t give any footballer assurances, I certainly wouldn’t want a manager who did.
You can tell a player where he fits into plans and what you expect of him but he’ll know he needs to deliver.
Agree with you here Davek. We can’t jettison players with elite attributes. I personally think Tim has a higher ceiling than Garner. Players can still develop in their early twenties. It's one example and we've seen many times this season in away games when we won that glut of them how much of a disruptor for the opposition he is physically dominating them...and to do that and play 31 times with not a lot of cards underlines he's smart with it...unlike Hayden hacking away at an opponent who strips him of the ball like a petulant child.
If we get shut of Ireogbunam and dont develop him then you know that this club is utterly cooked.
Agree. Gueye is a firefighter of a player, his stats look great for a backs to the wall set up, if we want to be putting teams up against the wall we need to move on.People are allowed different opinions. I just don’t rate him, never have really, I know a lot of people think differently. I’ve always thought he just chases the ball, can’t keep it, makes errors in big games, plays sideways, misses simple chances, vacates key areas of the pitch. He dropped out the PSG team and it’s not like we beat out anyone good to get him back. He’s generally been the same most of his time with us in my opinion. I actually think he’s been better at times since he’s been back than before. I wasn’t sorry to see him go to PSG, I won’t be sorry once he leaves again. He’s been in the engine rooms of a lot of bad midfields that haven’t worked, can’t keep the ball, can’t find a forward pass, wilt under pressure, don’t score goals, allow opposition teams to walk through them. Not all his fault of course but if he was as good as people make him out to be we wouldn’t have been so terrible.
Gueye Barry Barkley - passable at times
Gueye Schneiderlin Siggurdson - awful
Gueye Klaasen Schneiderlin - awful
Gueye Rooney Davies - awful
Gueye Gomes Siggurdson - barely passable atimes
Gueye Garner Doucoure - awful
Gueye Garner McNeil - awful
Gueye Onana Doucoure - awful
Gueye Garner KDH - barely passable at times
He’s been in one decent midfield since he’s been here with two players (Barry Barkley) who were already proven at Everton with other players. Every other midfield he’s been in has been absolutely turgid. Not solely his fault, but he’s definitely been sort of the problem.
We should let him go AND sign a new ball winning midfielder (although that's not what Hackney is). He can be both a waning, but important, player for us and need replacing. They don't need to be mutually exclusive.Didn't our form go off a cliff once he was injured though...
Maybe we would've found a way of playing with those replacements, who knows.
Is it though? He’s had some excellent seasons in the premier league. I think it more down to poor management of his career and bad luck personally. He was playing to a very high level at Everton before he left. Chelsea was just the completely wrong club for him and his career has never recovered. He has way more talent than Declan Rice.Game awareness: reading the game is what caused Barkley not to reach the top
He had all the other attributes necessary to be a top PL player
Tim lacks the same attributes as you just said
So you have just answered yourself, stuck in poor midfields and awful managers.People are allowed different opinions. Tim's weaknesses can't be taught, He isn't playing u12 football anymore.Agree with you here Davek. We can’t jettison players with elite attributes. I personally think Tim has a higher ceiling than Garner. Players can still develop in their early twenties.
