Amazing how you're trying to portray a member of one of the most ridiculous, pointless, entitled families in the world as having been born into service.
You may not support the Royal Family, which is absolutely fine by the way. You are entitled to an opinion the same way as everybody else is. But I have to say I'm amazed that you're amazed that somebody has referred to it as being born into service. Because that is exactly what it is.

I'm referring now to the senior royals, those directly descended from the Queen. Yes they live a privileged life, but from the moment they are born they are under scrutiny. Their path in life is mapped out for them, the choices they make limited by protocol and custom. They are permitted very little in the way of privacy and are invariably heavily censored whenever they behave in a way deemed inappropriate by the media and the public. Invariably they also work incredibly hard (there are some exceptions to this) and a lot of what they have to do is incredibly boring.

They have very little real power or influence and are expected to keep their opinions to themselves. And even if they go through their life doing everything expected of them, there are still people like yourself who would gladly put them up against a wall and shoot them.

Most people get to choose whether they want to live a life in service. The Royals don't have that luxury, at least not until they are old enough to make a decision to step back from it, as Harry has just done. I wouldn't swap my life for theirs. Not in a million years.

I suspect neither Megan or Harry were keen on living the lifestyle of a royal with a young family.

Fair play to them!

Let me guess, "People are racist".

This is becoming tiring, distasteful and just plain wrong.

To deny there had been no racial element in the reporting Megan, well. I would have to question the motives of anyone.

I've read it in articles and comments I've heard people repeat it face to face, it's just danglies to deny it, classic institutional British racism. Know your place...

Indeed it's been a broad attack with elements misogyny and classism in the mix.

Which the sister in-law had as well, about her class line of her mother. And questions of ethnicity being Romany or Gypsy...

Are you actually serious like genuinely serious ? I’ll deal with my post because you quoted me . I said “tTo be totally fair at no stage have I said that I think it’s racist what I’ve said is that when you look at it I think you find yourself wondering what other basis there is other than race .” Having quoted a number of articles which specifically mention “exotic DNA ‘ , ‘slaves ‘ and picture of a chimp amongst other things . Articles which when people who disagree with me and have entered into discuss seen to admit have the ‘whiff ‘ of a racial element about Them . You However rather than discussing it would rather clutch you pearls in the style “Laurence fox ‘ and complain about white racism you absolute whopper .

There is a debate about the disenfranchisement of white people in this country specifically I’d suggest white working class males but rarely is anyone talking about ‘white racism ‘ from that demographic they’re almost exclusively not in fact and it’s pathetic .
I don't think there is any doubt that in the past (and certainly when I first started looking for work 40 years ago) there were more opportunities available for white people like myself than there were for any of the ethnic minorities. Whether this was racist (which it may well have been 40 years ago as overt racism was a lot more prevalent then), or just down to lack of proper education and social mobility, I couldn't say for certain. So I can understand why the term privileged white is so often spoken of.

But I also believe that both society and the business arena are trying to bring about more equality. I know a lot of public and private sector organisations have equal opportunities policies, not just as regards race but also disability and gender. It's fair to say that most have so much catching up to do that it will probably be years before we see any sort of equality. Most organisations will have set themselves targets to achieve by a certain date and, realistically, the only way to reach these targets quickly is to employ people from the minority sectors whenever they can.

I have recently applied for 2 jobs, one with a local college as an invigilator, and one with the National Trust. For both I had to complete an equal opportunities questionnaire and they were quite detailed. I asked whether any applicants from the minority sectors would be considered for the job ahead of me. The college said they would be given priority. The NT said we would both be considered on merit, but if we were both equally suitable to the role, then priority would be given to those from minority groups.

I understand why they are doing this, but I'd be a liar if I said I wasn't disappointed with their responses.

I have 2 questions for anybody out there.

1) Is positive discrimination of minority groups also not discriminatory towards me and people like me?

2) Do you consider me racist for even bringing this subject up. As a white hetero healthy male in his late 50s, am I not entitled to the same opportunities to work as anybody else?

This is going off topic...

Unintentional racism = much worse

than...

Intentional allegations of racism

No. Absolutely not.

And once again the notion of racism against Markle is really distasteful, false and a line from her PR machine which alot of people seem to have fallen hook line and sinker for.
In a long and successful career of being wrong, you have really excelled in this thread
