I feel sorry for the young lad and Meghan. He wants to please his wife obviously, but they are from totally differing backgrounds and I’m not talking about status or class. She is in the glitzy TV and film world, and while Harry is always mixing with them as well, he is also from a strong service background born of royalty, military service, country and charities. It must be difficult for anyone to bridge the two worlds. The Royals have been ‘trained’ since birth, look at Harry as a young lad following his mothers funeral car with millions in attendance and watching, holding senior rank within the armed forces, which is another bridge in itself, and the life that Meghan followed. In some respects it’s the wrong mix, but love is love. So now they have to make it work for them, while being in Canada, in a place where really neither have a role nor friends nor reason to be, other than it’s not in the U.K. or USA. I do fear it will end in tears, but I hope they can make it work.......

Why doesn't she want to please him too? She was an actor for a bit, I'm sure she's not defined by that.

I'm not following this nearly closely enough to say for sure but I don't find it too far fetched to believe that the British press or certain elements of society might be racist.

Most racism isn't explicit nowadays. I'm not getting into this conversation over this, because I don't know enough, but if we are acting like her race isn't a factor here we are being naive about how the world works.

Racism is a problem only among a minority of people is about as naive as it gets though.

You don't have to be explicitly racist to be racist.

The whole thing is making me laugh to be honest, both sides are just pathetic with their arguments.

The abuse she receives is undeniably racist and misogynistic, the establishment right-wing press can't stand the fact a mixed race woman with actual brains has took away their beloved party-boy prince. For years he was a tabloid favourite, a dopey but harmless royal who was always getting up to something naughty that was guaranteed to shift papers. Now he's gotten married and become a father and suddenly doesn't want reporters knowing every detail of their lives, how dare they!

On the other hand, their supporters are largely embarrassing as well. How are they going to become "financially independent" exactly? The only way they'll make money is by selling their privacy (the very thing they say they're trying to protect) through reality shows and interviews. Any offers for work they get now will come because of who they are, nothing else. They basically want to have their cake and eat it.

Let them go to Canada, I'd be delighted to never hear from them again and for the evil pigs in the media to spit with fury about it.

I’m a relatively wealthy white heterosexual white male I fail to understand why so many people seem obsessed that we’re a discriminated or oppressed minority. It’s whether you think an article describing her as descended from slaves appropriate. I am owning it. I was implying, as I said, that the comments about her have a very similar tone to comments about Lukaku which seem rooted in something other than their actual actions. It doesn’t have to be overt racism to be racial bias

If 75% of articles in the media about Meghan are negative, and she gets slaughtered for the same things that Kate did, and gets labelled 'uppity', yeah the press may not be racist, but they know their audience and the inherent views of the Mail readers.


As a side note, Meghan's sister has come out in support of Tommy Robinson? No wonder she wants to stay away from her family too.

You've just contradicted yourself there mate. Racism has many definitions these days, and you could speak to 10 people and they could all tell you something different. But the days when you had to use the N word or similar to be considered racist are long gone.

I do agree with you that the British mainstream media's treatment of Megan isn't racially motivated though. But a lot of things being said about her on social media is racist and an absolute disgrace.

And I don't agree with you that Megan is a gold digger. Only Megan herself knows the full reasons why she married Harry. You are entitled to an opinion of course, but when the only fact backing up that opinion is that she married a rich person, that opinion is then fundamentally flawed. Not everyone marrying into money is a gold digger. It's no different to saying the media coverage of Megan is racist purely because she is of mixed race.

Articles which when people who disagree with me and have entered into discuss seen to admit have the ‘whiff ‘ of a racial element about Them . You However rather than discussing it would rather clutch you pearls in the style “Laurence fox ‘ and complain about white racism you absolute whopper .
