Happy St Patriks Day

Mate, do you see anyone calling the Irish racists, or the Welsh, or the Scottish, or the Americans on 4th July?

What you state isnt really fact mate, its stuff peddled by the likes of the Sun and the Mirror to sell papers.

Theres nothing wrong with being proud of your nationality mate, its not for me like but thats a personal thing. When St George's Day happens go out and celebrate and see who complains. No-one will. Its a media myth and the only ones that think its valid are the BNP which pretty much sums it up.

Post of the millenium.

There is absolutely no-one stopping them except themselves. The bottom line is that they prefer to moan about it than do something about it.

I repeat, there is NO-ONE stopping you from doing all that English and proud whopperism.

That's not strictly true.

Cancelled on police advice: St George's Day parade through the Bradford race-riot zone | Mail Online

Just an example (and when it says 'riot zone' it actually just means Bradford, which is a little vague as it is quite a large place). People are often stopped officially celebrating Englishness. Taxis are not allowed to show the St George's flag.

This would be understandable to an extent but then the same councils allow Eid celebrations to flow through the city with full flag waving joyousness without a murmur (I've no problem with this, just highlighting the council's hypocricy)

Aaaaaaaanyway.

St Patrick's day should be renamed St Guinness Day. It has basically been hijacked by them and turned into a drinking party (not complaining).

If we had anything linked in with St George's day maybe people would start celebrating it. I think Spitfire ale have tried to jump on it, but not been very successful.

Carling are missing a trick to be honest.

You can believe it is a myth all day long chico mate, i respect your opinion although i am confident you are wrong on this one. I am no supporter of the BNP and never would entertain them along with thousands of individuals who can clearly see something going very wrong in this country. You are affraid to say black these days and no matter how much of a myth you believe it to be, you have to watch your p's and q's these days in the fear of someone jumping on every little thing you say.

In fairness H-man, thats not a good example.

Bradford is largely Asian, whites are in the minority there, and given the recent events there its probably good not to host what could be construed as a provoking march. Pretty much similar in Northern Ireland on the 12th July when the Protestants want to march down routes which are mainly Catholic residencial areas.

However, with England being a big place Im 99% certain it wouldnt be a problem elsewhere just that people like to use this Bradford example when its not applicable elsewhere.

In short: theres nothing stopping them.

But, and this may shock some people. Bradford is not Asia. So why shouldn't English people celebrate being English in their own country.

Oh I agree mate, political correctness has gone too far.

I have mates of different ethnicities and theyre embarassed by it too. Blackboard to chalkboard is a good example, daft.

But when it comes to St Georges Day, it just seems thats theres a little bit of envy to the celtic nations and its down to bone idleness of the Angles to celebrate St Georges Day.

Funny thing is though mate, English people celebrate St Patrick's Day. In all honesty it's a slur on the Irish people and the belief that they "like a good time". It's stereotyping at it's most. But like many Irish will say, they do not complain.

England have won at rugby now have they? Forza Wales.

Im with you on that mate, and if you read the comments below then there are Muslims who are with you too. It was a police decision.

Exactly. So whats to say theres anything stopping English people celebrating St Georges Day, or even scousers celebrating St Cilla's Day.

Right, a police decision. Like it's a headmistresses decision to stop teachers from having English flags on their car during a world cup, as it may offend muslim children. Basically its high authority who kind of frown upon such acts because they are afraid of any tension it may cause with ethnic minorities. Who probably don't really give a ****.

These stories are brought to you by an increasingly desperate and xenophobic media looking to generate feelings and sell more papers out of it and read by thirty something white van mans from down south.

Well luckily I don't buy ****e papers, otherwise I would be totally obsessed with the blow by blow account of a certain z-list celebrities impending death.
