Having lived in tinder dry California for many years I have acquired a new appreciation for just how fast any fire can go sideways rapidly so have zero tolerance for people setting light to any building.

Oh, not condoning it at all. There is 0 empathy towards those fuckwads. I just have a friend who has a friend who was there who said they didn't know there were apartments above. They should be tried for attempted murder honestly.

and, yet, they still support police completely. It's like the press are afraid of chastising the police. Which, if you live in America, you understand. Theres a seriously weird hero worship that a lot of people have with police.

Anyway, I posted that police vid running over people earlier, it was quite shocking.


I think we have an unrealistic idea of the Police and forget that they are only human with the same flaws we all have.

It’s difficult to have empathy when most of us aren’t exposed to those situations daily, and it’s easy to say things behind a keyboard. I bet it’s damn difficult to be a cop and deal with some of the ish they have to deal with.

It doesn’t make a lot of the things they do right (I posted my thoughts on the police force earlier), but they can’t be held to these impossible standards either and expect to be alive long. There has to be a middle ground.

I had a bunch of friends who before they were cops. The ones here(in America) instill an entire "us vs them" mentality. They see anyone who isn't a cop as an enemy.

Think about that. The ones who are meant to protect us, who we allow the use of force with, see anyone who ISN'T a cop as an enemy.

It is a tough job to be a first responder of any type, firefighters and healthworkers have some pretty awful stories fo recount as well often without some of the protections police are afforded.

However I don’t think not beating up on someone already subdued, firing at press or driving at protestors are impossible standards given the huge numbers of police who manage to refrain from those actions.

And I agree that they need to be better overall. I do think that some situations are next to impossible for them though. I don’t envy any of the decent cops that are on the frontline right now.

Yeah I think if someone lit a building on fire down here in front of witnesses the cops would be the least of their worries.

That young girl that had mental and family issues that started the fire in 2014 here was made example off.

They wanted to prosecute her as an adult at the time. Knives were out, she was sued personally by groups of people which I always find humorous and pointless.

And I agree that they need to be better overall. I do think that some situations are next to impossible for them though. I don’t envy any of the decent cops that are on the frontline right now.

Neither do I which is why I have repeatedly posted about the ones who I think are doing an exemplary job deescalating tensions.

These events are beyond sad and I have no words for the frustration and grief I feel (which isn’t as strong as many) but I cant help but laugh at the Dallas Sword Guy story. WTF!! I’m glad he’s not dead but what a colossal 2wat.
