I think we have an unrealistic idea of the Police and forget that they are only human with the same flaws we all have.

yeah, except here has a standing order to not hire the best and brightest and went to court to maintain that. If someone is *too* smart or tests *too* highly they won't hire them.

Also was a study that said the police in America are one of the occupations that have some of the highest propensities for sociopaths.

Soooo...by saying "we may have an unrealistic idea of the police" did you mean that we should accept that there are a bunch of people that quite happily would enjoy ending another persons life?
