Prior to finding out about it's association with pro slavery in many peoples minds* I should say.
I was going to say the flag originated out of that association, and appreciate the correction.
Completely agree on all. But I always thought aesthetically the confederate flag is better looking.
While I disagree, I'm biased. My grandfather served in WW2, even with the blemishes I do find our history interesting.
I can't find it aesthetically pleasing. But I also hate what it stands for. You acknowledge that, and it's fair that you like it.
To me I just see a bunch of people trotting it around, who the people responsible for it's creation looked down on. A bunch of uneducated fools, just a step above the slaves to the elites in the south. These people are fools. Like Thomas Jefferson, has been held up in these peoples eyes. Thomas Jefferson looked down on everyone who wasn't himself. He would have hated these moonshine drinking farmers scraping by who picked up arms in the civil war.
He'd look down on these budlight drinkers driving a 40k truck parked in front of the trailer.
You think Jefferson Davis, or Robert E. Lee were understanding of common people. The only difference between the poor southern whites and the slaves was obvious.
