I am 37 years old and can honestly say i have never seen racism in regards to work. Skin colour would not be a factor in whether someone gets the job.
Again, maybe it's not a race issue? Maybe White people tend to be more greed driven and ambitious where black people come from more of a family driven background and don't chase the high stress, less family hours roles?
Not everything in life is down to racism
sweeping generalisation??? it's completely true! They do tend to have bigger families. Is it wrong to say that? Jesus christ
Arguing for equality of outcome is dangerous and nonsensical.
Also why is it that whenever people talk about the gender pay gap it’s always concerning roles that are very well paid. WE NEED MORE FEMALE CEO’S! Ok, great I agree. What about firefighters? Janitors? Bin collectors? Delivery drivers? Taxi drivers?
The notion that at any given time at any workplace, the staff will be split 50/50 (then you throw in other massively key factors like race) is just insane. You can extend this to society as a whole.
If I’ve read you wrong and it’s equality of opportunity you’re championing then we’re on the same page. Equality of outcome is ludicrous.
I referred to board representation and financial services because I work in that industry and so we talk about that a lot.
im not talking about equality of outcome I’m talking about equality of opportunity.
but there are loads of factors in play starting from an early age. Boys toys tend to be more skewed towards things like lego and building etc than girls which encourages interest in things like engineering etc. girls are less likely to study maths than boys. Within the industry (and alot of industries), supposedly ‘male’ traits (such as assertiveness - men are much more likely to ask for a pay rise or promotion) are rewarded more, maternity and paternity policies are generally skewed towards women (meaning they are more likely to take a career break due to circumstance rather than just through choice), lack of representation means there are fewer mentors and leaders and people to aspire to).
I’m all for equality of opportunity but there are lots of things a lot the way that mean that opportunity isn’t necessarily as equal as at face value. Anyway, other discussion for another time.
Valid point on response rates but it is something that can largely be corrected by a properly designed poll (haven’t looked into the guts of this one tbf)

I work in a large investment bank (in a middle management service role so no fat cat). The sacrifice that needs to be made to reach a senior MD or head of LOB role is massive. The job is effectively your life with very little time to switch off with massive pressure which all has a significant impact on family life. We have number of women in these roles but I honestly feel women on the whole find it more difficult or less desirable to make that sacrifice.

Agree with the dynamic issue and after all this is just one poll which is inherently more unreliable (even if it is itself a well designed poll). Going to be interesting to see how plays out over time, just found it intriguing as not what I expected tbh. especially having previously posted another earlier poll showing broad support for sending in military.
I have to disagree with you. In my view, racism is an intrinsic primeval instinct in us, originating in humans being territorial animals.
It is easy to develop and feed on, difficult to eradicate although it can be by education.
