What you are referring to is equal pay. Equal pay law means that you need to be paid the same for the same job, same experience etc.The gender pay gap as it is often presented is a myth.
When you compare men and women in equivalent roles with the same level of experience the gender pay gap is less than 0.5%.
The 9% figure touted by many is simply a comparison of the median earnings of men vs women. This does nothing to account for the roles that men and women are doing or choose to do.
Those differences in career choice are less likely to be found between races so it’s likely that any pay gap is far more troubling and is likely discriminatory at its core.
