I suppose its a combination of the obvious wrongness of something that was clearly filmed, and the possible political benefits some people think they'll get out of it (in the same way that Weinstein only became an issue once people realised they'd have to get him away so they could call Trump a sex pest).

It is bizarre though, there were associated demos in Rio last weekend where cops had killed 177 people in April.
Theres been video for the last 10 years tho. Eric Garner literally was killed on tape.

I don't get it but it is well past time honestly.

Probably because everyone has been stuck inside trying to figure out how to not go insane.

With so many being furloughed and let go many especially in the black community they have had enough.

Like you said there were others and that probably weighed on peoples minds and already stressed this threw them over the edge to where something definitely needed to be done.

They reckon these last two/three months could be the most stressful in a long time.

So the protests are to ensure that the sentence is appropriate and put pressure on the court?
So many incidents by cops are ignored by the courts.

Cops are rarely prosecuted and given the amount of incidents against the black community people wanted to let them know enough is enough and the cops in that incident and going forward need to be dealt with.

A criminal act should not be ignored because a man or woman wears a uniform.

Partly that, partly to raise awareness that nothing has changed since ‘92. Partly because white people en masse are saying enough. Partly a reaction to three years of incendiary rhetoric from trump, partly due to lockdown fatigue and a number of other reasons.

Just to correc that point...

Told you before, I see right through you, as clear as day.

You're already been wrong on a lot of assumptions already. So. whatever mate. Yawn!

Can you give me a list of the peer-reviewed studies that you've read. I'd be interested in that list.

Here's a couple.

Officer characteristics and racial disparities in fatal officer-involved shootings

We find no evidence of anti-Black or anti-Hispanic disparities across shootings, and White officers are not more likely to shoot minority civilians than non-White officers. Instead, race-specific crime strongly predicts civilian race. This suggests that increasing diversity among officers by itself is unlikely to reduce racial disparity in police shootings.

Do White Law Enforcement Officers Target Minority Suspects?

They find that although minority suspects are disproportionately killed by police, white officers appear to be no more likely to use lethal force against minorities than nonwhite officers .
