This (in part) is really interesting...

1: You have the virus smashing the US economy

2: You have people looking forward and coming back to work + ready to go to stores / socialise...but suddenly they arent able to due to the current climate.

3: Local small/medium and large corprate businesses are destroyed / looted.

4: General population now living in a different environment and 'not in the mood' to go and shop (if stores are intact') socialise (fear of virus or dangerous environment)

5: As this all continues there will be furtheŕ economic suffering.

6: The virus will continue to pass from person to person with many ignoring social distancing.

7: Expensive healthcare and loss of employment will be huge concerns for low income families.


Where will the US economy be in 2021...

If it crashes (as expected) wont the wealthy be purchasing more real estate + stocks etc and creating an even larger class divide...

Wont the liquid middle classes do the same...

Just how many stores do you think got destroyed?

I don't recall much outrage or support for the Iraqi protesters when Iraqi security forces reportedly killed close to 100 people last October..

Like I have said before it's because it's currently the trendy thing to protest.

People only really care about what they are told to care about. For the majority obviously, people do actually care about things.

But on this scale, no-one cares enough to protest and campaign from their living room about black rights , climate change , the chief advisor or whatever topic of the week is until they are told to.

For every single person who campaigns for black rights there's currently a thousand who only care now because it's on the news.

I don’t know the details but I think most of that is domestic violence sort of thing. Some is obviously robbery/murder type stuff. There are many people in the US who are “scared to be on the streets” but I don’t think* random gun violence is as big a thing as it’s made out to be.

*Excepting mass murder of course

Whether it is random or not, in 2016 there were 14,415 homicides involving a firearm in the US. The figure for deaths caused by police has been less 1,000 for years.

Away from deaths, there were 31,258 injuries using a firearm in 2017 in the US. You're far more likely to be killed or injured by another civilian than a police officer.

Now I'm not saying the police aren't an issue, but to say they're more dangerous or an issue is statistically incorrect - far from it.
