@anjelikaferrett actually in the UK i passed 2 interviews at a local bank branch when i was about 19. After being called into the 3rd interview i was given a bunch of compliments but told i wouldnt be getting the job as his boss wanted to hire a woman

In singapore i was told that if i was hired they would need to hire 2 female locals or be penalised.

In Tokyo it is close to impossible to get a job in my area unless over 40 or japanese.

In thailand they hire 4 locals for every 1 foreigner...

In many asian countries you cant buy a house or get a mortgage even if you have 99% of the purchase price...e.g in Philippines no chance.

The issue i have is the WHITE privilege doesnt apply to all people who are white just as a lot of observations dont apply to all ethnic minority groups wherever they are.

All of your problems seem to be white collar jobs.

Have you had the stop and search right used on you?

Have you been tasered?

Have you had pressure on your neck for so long that you died?

Read the post i made before that.
Personal experience doesn't erase the reality of what we are talking about here. We are conflating all types of scenarios on this page, but the overriding issue, particularly in America, is that if you're black you're far more likely to be profiled, killed, have excessive force used against you, etc, than white people. These are just facts.

Sometimes we need to step back and listen to what the affecting people are saying. And open our eyes

Thanks! I'll take a look through it :)

Most privileged group in society = white male.

No. Totally false.

Bum felt = yes plenty of times by both men and women without any desire for them to do so.

Cheer up etc = Plenty of times yes.

Asked to resign due to a relationship = No but those were the rules in 2 companies i worked for.

Asked to change what youre wearing = How about a female colleague removing my tie or getting felt up at office events and in smoking areas and/or bars?

Pulled over by the police = Yes plenty of times and also stopped on the street, had police plant drugs on me + threaten to arrest me as i was white and they wanted a bribe. Also force me in handcuffs to go to my condo and pay them a bribe...taken to the ATM to withdraw money and give them....

When you refuse you are taken to a police station after 30mins being handcuffed in their car and then told you either pay or you go to jail for 1 month and no one will be notified apart from your embassy.

Probably more as well if i think about it.

Refused jobs as im white = Yes plenty of times. Also refused jobs as im not the right age or gender.

I cant get swimming trunks, shoes or other clothing in western sizes either...

Dont have kids and im not female so the other questions dont apply.

Amy further questions?

Heres some for you...

Ever received calls / sms with death threats unless you transfer funds to someone?

Ever been told by the police that death threats, theft and extortion arent police matters?

Ever been stopped on the street because you look "white" and a crime was committed by a " foreigner" somewhere...maybe.

Ever been threatened with kidnap and been surrounded by people who tell you the exact places you and your girlfriend have been over the past week with photos?

Ever been sat at a boarding gate and be approached by someone with no ID, no plane ticket to threaten you unless you go back through immigration? Then bring security to take your passport and walk back past immigration...

Whats this "white privilege" and how am i part of the most privileged group in society".

Because, you know thats what all white men are apparently...

Zat landing more haymakers than Deontay Wilder here - great to see.

Thanks! I'll take a look through it :)

@Pittsburgh Footy @coollino i think you both missed this.

I read somewhere that there are 9 times more black killing whites in US than the other way around...and thats by 12% of the US population.

Those are incredibly high figures if true.
It is a social, not a racial issue. Black Americans also make up a disproportionately high % of the "poor" population. I would imagine if you look at it by areas of poverty, black/white crime rates are pretty even.

Blame social engineering by previous American governments (Regan). I'm sure I read that he was trying to convince thatcher to do the same (i.e. the projects and trying to flood their neighbourhoods with drugs) to the poorest parts of the UK.

While not trying to detract from the blatant issue with US police, a lot more people die at the hands of other US citizens due to firearms than that of the police.

I don’t know the details but I think most of that is domestic violence sort of thing. Some is obviously robbery/murder type stuff. There are many people in the US who are “scared to be on the streets” but I don’t think* random gun violence is as big a thing as it’s made out to be.

*Excepting mass murder of course

Well personal experience should mean that people shouldnt use WHITE PRIVILEGE at every white person which seems borderline racist to me.

Obviously in the US theres a different spectrum, my point is that globally there are many different situations for all races. Which means that sweeping statements like the one @anjelikaferrett made about me are off piste.

I also believe that white people in the US / UK or many other places living in primarily non-white areas will suffer racism and certainly arent privileged as white people.

Then you should understand and empathise. As somebody else said it is time to listen, step back and see what's happening.

I’m sorry all of that has happened to you Zat.

It's blowing my mind.

Its proper staggering isn't it, the amount of delusion required to think it's not a thing is insane.

I think a lot of people get triggered (@Zatara @Paul jones) by the term because they don't understand what it means and automatically assume that its someone saying that all white people have lived an easy privileged life.... this is not what it means.

The term was originally coined by Peggy Mcintosh in 1988 in this article

"It describes the advantages that whites in Western societies enjoy and non-whites do not experience, as "an invisible package of unearned assets"
