Ive already done that and they have told me they need the military involvement to close in the rioters and arrèst them. Which is pretty obvious to those who dont immediately snap to judgements.

They also commented that a lot of the police look unfit, overweight and unable to handle the situation.

The military are fit, healthy and can operate in a hostile environment against people terrorising the general population.

Ive not just called around a bunch of supremacists who want people executed.

There already is military support. The national guard are there.

The ones calling for the air force are playing into Trumps strongman tactic to have them come in and break skulls.

So now its because cops are fat. Jesus wept that is just daft.

This is absolutely bang on. Any idiot who posts “all lives matter” might as well be giving the middle finger to Black Lives Matter, and by extension might as well be saying “I’m fine with innocent people being marginalised and killed over their skin colour.

To spell it out - it’s BLACK LIVES MATTER, not ONLY BLACK LIVES MATTER. All lives CANNOT matter until black lives matter. While we still live in a world where POC are marginalised, criminalised, disenfranchised, and have to be afraid of being killed by a “police officer’s accident” with impunity, it’s not appropriate to say full stop.

I'm an idiot as well then. While I can see the need to push the message home at this moment so people feel they are being listened to, I believe by singling-out one group you are just storing up trouble for later as it's possible that could stoke an even bigger us v them mentality in certain folk. I may be wrong but that is my viewpoint that the rioting/looting will be attached to the BLM message and will harden the very people that need to listen most.

I would much rather see the police officer get life imprisonment and the message come down that police brutality and any people in authority positions that act with impunity will face the harshest possible punishments seeing they are here to protect and should know better. This is to protect all, be it Black, Asian, Hispanic or even Redheads ( ).

Oh I agree, you can see from the King incident where obvious justice was not served and as a result you can't blame anyone feeling mistrust with the system.

God knows how much this whole episode has cost and someone, somewhere should really say enough is enough as it is tearing the fabric of society. Examples need to be made until they feel the justice system is for all and not for one particular part of the population.

De Blasio did what he was supposed to do love him or hate him. He called in all of the police and then the national guard when necessary.

Thats the procedures they follow.

So your friends hate him because he doesn't want other branches of military taking to the streets and going one further than crowd control.

There have been many videos thus far from New York of locals being outraged at the treatment of them at the hands of the national guard.

Eh... the national guard has not been activated in NY. Cuomo was even criticizing De Blasio and the NYPD for how poorly they've handled it. I'm not in the city, but watching people pretend like they know what is happening is pretty annoying.

I should quote a lot of others too talking about NY. Don't mean to single you out. Just trying to politely let people know it was mismanaged here, completely. In both ways if that's possible. You've got a cop driving into a crowd and you've got cops not reacting strongly enough. The city, I love it. It's my favorite place in the world. I do take pride in it, even though I'm not from there because I know the state would be nothing without it.

I don't know if it will be the place I knew. That could be a good thing, because the city always had its issues. But it's undoubtedly going to be different post coronavirus and this. Manhattan looks like something different to me now.

They haven't and nypd is one of the most militarized police forces in the US so it is understandable then.
