There are Christian women around the country that are celebrating this ruling. The whole "committing" suicide thing is being way too sensationalized by left-wing Twitter accounts. Why do you make it seem as if this is an attack on women? If it is an attack on women, why are many women so happy with this? Let me tell you something, if men had to give birth instead of women, I would still be anti-abortion but of course you're going to put a misogynistic spin on this.

I support abortions in the cases to save the mothers life, that's a given. I would be a very bad human not to support it in those circumstances but that's where my support for the procedure ends. So you could stop your straw man arguments. I'm not against women getting abortions to save their lives, if the doctor says so, it has to be done. But thats the ONLY time abortion should be carried out, full stop.

Abortion to save a woman's life or health is not a given, though, is it? Nor is it a straw man argument as there are states that have banned (Missouri) and/or plan to ban abortion in all cases. Further, given you are incapable of giving birth your supposition you would oppose it is meaningless. Only women can give birth and simply because some women are pleased does not mean these laws are not mysoginistic. In point of fact, they are the very definition of mysoginistic.

Frankly, if you believe in freedom of religion then these laws should be anathema to you. Otherwise, you are anti-Semitic.

Lastly, women who kill themselves in despair over being pregnant is not something to trivialize. That you have chosen to do so is again, ungodly and shameful. Truly so. Not a joke.

Repulsive, absolutely repulsive.

I’ve reported the post.

In my wife's career as a teacher, she had two students under the age of 15 who killed themselves despondent because they were pregnant. She also knew of other pregnant students who were beaten by their boyfriends when the boy was told she was pregnant.

Trivializing this is repugnant.

Psalm 127:3

Behold, children are a gift of the Lord,
The fruit of the womb is a reward.
And it came to pass :

One day the older daughter said to the younger, " Our father is old, and there is no man around to bear us children - as is the custom all over earth. Let us get our father to drink wine and then sleep with him to preserve our family line through our father."

There endeth the incest lesson : Genesis 19. 31-32

To not appreciate that this ruling will have profound impacts on many peoples health, both physical and mental, indicates an absolute lack any empathy for others.

15 weeks is significantly different than the 10 weeks you first mentioned.

I’m going to tag in @DrEFC (sorry mate) to cover the mid trimester scans that can determine both maternal and baby health as they are out of my wheelhouse but most medical professionals I know are supportive that decisions about abortion be left to the patient with generous timelimits.
A significant proportion of women won't realise they're pregnant till 8 weeks plus, then there's arranging abortion services, and two doctors have to sign it off, then there's a rush to get it done prior to end of first trimester- where medical and surgical options are readily available. It becomes more complex to perform second trimester terminations, and the majority will be medical (tablets) with the pain, the waiting, the delivery to agonise over. From an non-"social" termination point of view- many lethal, or profoundly life changing congenital abnormalities may not be identifiable on the initial dating scan (which obviously can pick up on major abnormalities such as acrania ect). The scan at 10-13 weeks is combined with blood tests to generate a risk for genetic problems such downs syndrome, Edwards and patau's. Now this is a SCREENING test and not diagnostic. Diagnostic tests are either done after 13 weeks or 16 weeks plus (the latter with less chance of miscarriage) and may still take weeks for a result.
The anomaly scan, looking more specifically for structural issues is performed usually between 18-22 weeks and may pick up problems that make the the pregnancy non-viable. Then there's usually a referral to a tertiary centre for confirmation, +/- investigations from a genetic point of view. All take time.

Never in over a decade of working have I ever encountered a woman requesting a "social" termination at a stage that the fetus would be viable.

On questions of viability, yes I've seen babies survive at 22 weeks. But those you'll read about because they've achieved what generally parents would dream their children could do.. are rare. Extremely rare. I cannot praise the neonatal services and their advances in care at extremes of prematurity enough, but if you're unfortunate to ever be in that position, they will quote rates of "intact survival" for a reason.

Edit: it's after midnight and I've a long day ahead of me tomorrow so I'm desperate to get my head down, but if anyone needs advice, my DMs are always open x

Thank you for providing the view of a medical professional. Much appreciated.
