What about the will of the people who want/need an abortion? Their will doesn't matter?
If the people of a state support banning abortion by a majority, then that state should be able to pass a legislation banning abortion. That's how democracy works. The minority shouldn't have a "will " because the majority doesn't recognise abortion as "healthcare".

But... the states that 'want a say' on the abortion issue are surely the ones that are going to want to change the law on abortion in said state? Is that not correct?

Like, why would you be arsed with having power over such a decision unless you wanted to change it?

And abortion should be a legal right - a basic human right - wherever you live in the world. It is two thousand and twenty frigging two.
What makes you so adamant in saying it's a basic human right ? Have you ever actually seen videos of abortions being performed? Have you seen how the entire thing works right ? By calling it a human right, you are equating abortion to other necessities in our life that we take for granted, and its a bit tonedeaf on your part.

If a state is going to ban abortion, its because the majority of the people in those states wholeheartedly don't support abortion. If a state like Louisiana bans abortion, then you can't argue with the will of the Louisianian people. Democracy will always prevail in America.

My father would still be vehemently pro-life if it was men giving birth to children. What you aren't aware of is that there are large amounts of christian women in America who are very happy with the ruling that took place yesterday.

I always wonder how they define "Christian". Usually seem like a rabble of 'Old Testament is literally true' freaks.

I love the way you think that's relevant on an issue like this.

No one is forcing those people to have an abortion. THEY are removing other people's bodily autonomy, and imposing their religious beliefs on others.

So much for religious freedom eh?

Mate, it's a basic right for a person to decide whether they are ready to give birth or want to give birth, yes.

Now, that does not mean I support abortions up until late stages of pregnancy, but barring absolute medical emergencies or complete lunatics (very rare), that doesn't happen, and definitely not in the UK.

If only the US powers that be gave so much to gun control.

The whole "late term abortion" thing that right wing nuts blather on and on about is a straw man argument.

No one gets to 8 months into a pregnancy and suddenly goes "Ahh you know what, I don't fancy this."

On those rare occasions when such procedures take place, it is generally the worst, most distressing day of that/those parent/s lives. They've most likely planned out the early months of that child's life. Maybe decorated a nursery, bought clothes, picked out a name etc etc, before they're suddenly thrust into a HORRIFIC situation where there are no options left other than to terminate a wanted pregnancy.

For these far right lunatics to weaponise those sorts of experiences to punt their own theocratic agenda is an act of such incredible cynicism and evil that I can hardly even come up with the words for it.

Why should it come to an abortion for a person to decide whether they are "ready" to give birth? There are so many forms of contraception available.

Bro, leftists in America have been vouching for full-term abortions. Its not a straw-man argument. For them, having abortions is a victory for feminism.
