If the people of a state support banning abortion by a majority, then that state should be able to pass a legislation banning abortion. That's how democracy works. The minority shouldn't have a "will " because the majority doesn't recognise abortion as "healthcare".
There probably isn’t a single state in the entire union in which yesterday’s ruling enjoys majority support. It’s underwater everywhere. The reason Republicans drove so hard on this issue in spite of it being an overall political loser is that it was something they could raise boatloads of cash off of.

Also, funny old thing about America. It’s not a true democracy, but a democratic republic. That’s how Republicans have exploited loophole after loophole for the past 40 years and, aside from the current two year cycle where they are currently paying the price for supporting a historically awful presidential candidate, have installed themselves into minority rule. They’ve received the most votes in exactly ONE nationwide election since the end of the Cold War.

The whole "late term abortion" thing that right wing nuts blather on and on about is a straw man argument.

No one gets to 8 months into a pregnancy and suddenly goes "Ahh you know what, I don't fancy this."

On those rare occasions when such procedures take place, it is generally the worst, most distressing day of that/those parent/s lives. They've most likely planned out the early months of that child's life. Maybe decorated a nursery, bought clothes, picked out a name etc etc, before they're suddenly thrust into a HORRIFIC situation where there are no options left other than to terminate a wanted pregnancy.

For these far right lunatics to weaponise those sorts of experiences to punt their own theocratic agenda is an act of such incredible cynicism and evil that I can hardly even come up with the words for it.
Yep
The majority of abortions in 2019 took place early in gestation: 92.7% of abortions were performed at ≤13 weeks’ gestation; a smaller number of abortions (6.2%) were performed at 14–20 weeks’ gestation, and even fewer (<1.0%) were performed at ≥21 weeks’ gestation.

Not to mention that a lot of the rules that GOP put in for abortions, eg requiring scans/wait times/restricting abortion providers/no funding etc, meant that women were forced to delay the procedure as they jumped through hoops making the procedure more dangerous for them.

Bro, leftists in America have been vouching for full-term abortions. Its not a straw-man argument. For them, having abortions is a victory for feminism.
JFC. It’s ****posting like this that has everyone, perhaps correctly, calling you a WUM.

A fair number of your posts you do try to make legit arguments, but then you burn any good faith people might have to try and engage in discussion with you by posting this utter nonsense.

Like saying, "No!" to a rapist? But what if they ignore said refusal to consent? In some states, the victim would legally have to give birth to that child.
Contraceptives are not 100% effective in any case

My father would still be vehemently pro-life if it was men giving birth to children. What you aren't aware of is that there are large amounts of christian women in America who are very happy with the ruling that took place yesterday.

Yeah bet they're made up that should they get raped or be medically incapable of giving birth without a great risk of death that they'll be forced to or risk prison.

What makes you so adamant in saying it's a basic human right ? Have you ever actually seen videos of abortions being performed? Have you seen how the entire thing works right ? By calling it a human right, you are equating abortion to other necessities in our life that we take for granted, and its a bit tonedeaf on your part.

If a state is going to ban abortion, its because the majority of the people in those states wholeheartedly don't support abortion. If a state like Louisiana bans abortion, then you can't argue with the will of the Louisianian people. Democracy will always prevail in America.

So they'll be investing in childcare, welfare, education etc for the glut of children that will be being born go people who, through no fault of their own, can't support them?

This is about control.

Going to be an sad new genre of American evening news sob stories where they interview Christian “dead women walking” or their partners, who, after having complications with a pregnancy that put their lives in danger have now seen the light as to why access to abortion was absolutely essential all along.

It's the United States, you have to be creative!
You can't terminate a pregnancy, but you can probably legally shoot your unwanted baby with automatic machine gun because you feel 'threatened' and 'stood your ground'.

Why should it come to an abortion for a person to decide whether they are "ready" to give birth? There are so many forms of contraception available.
One of my mate's girlfriend's has a coil, which is one of the most reliable forms of birth control. Yet two months ago, she discovered she was pregnant.

They're both 24, living in London, and are not able to financially support a child, neither are they ready for it at this time of their lives. She has a form of contraception that works in 99.4% of cases yet she was one of the .6% of cases where it failed. They decided to abort. I'm sure it was a very hard decision for both of them, but they decided to do it because they thought it was for the best.

You've shown your true colours here with that post btw. Because you've been claiming it's all about 'the will of the people' when actually you just don't think people should have the right to abort, clearly.
